A quick guide to the handwriting policy
Aims for the children
We aim for the children to:
 Achieve a neat, legible style with correctly
formed letters in cursive handwriting.
 Develop flow and speed.
 Eventually produce the letters
automatically in their independent writing.
How can you help?
Encourage your child(ren) to form their letters
in the correct way (starting on the line) and
praise them for good presentation and clear
letter formation. Children will start to join their
handwriting in Year 3 and 4 so ask them to
show you examples of this! Whatever the age of
your child, please encourage good presentation
and clear letter formation in their homework
and any other writing.
Each child has received the following bookmark to remind them how each letter is
formed.
