No-Bake Granola Bars - Breakfast for Learning

No-Bake Granola Bars
Granola bars are a real favourite with kids, but store-bought bars can be expensive and very high
in sugar. This recipe is an affordable, lower sugar, and higher fibre bar that makes a great snack.
Makes: 12 granola bars
Equipment:
Medium sized mixing bowl
Medium sized frying pan
Mixing utensils
9x12 baking pan
Ingredients:
1/4 cup
1/4 cup
1/3 cup
½ tsp
2 cups
1 cup
1 tbsp
1 tbsp
margarine
honey
packed brown sugar
vanilla
whole grain oats
crispy rice cereal
flax seed
wheat bran
Directions:
1.
In fry pan, melt margarine, honey and brown sugar together over medium heat. Bring to
rolling boil. Reduce the heat and cook 2 minutes. Add vanilla and stir.
2. In medium sized mixing bowl, Mix together oats, rice cereal, flax seed and wheat bran.
3. Pour liquid mixture over dry ingredients and mix well to combine.
4. Pour into 9x12 baking pan and press down on mixture to fill whole pan.
5. Set in fridge until firm (approximately 1 hour)
6. Cut into bars.
