“Keep on Track” Reports
Stapled to this note is an update of your
child’s progress for the 2nd quarter. I hope
that you have seen all of your child’s
corrected work, but just in case you haven’t,
I wanted to make sure you know how they’re
doing. I have included all of the grades I’ve
recorded (except for Science.) If there is
only one score, it means that I did not have
a chance to correct and record all of the
work that I received today. If there looks
like there’s difficulty in an area, please talk
to your child to see if you both can come up
with a strategy for improvement. If a
student needs more help, I can work with
them after school or during lunchtime.
Sometimes it’s just a matter of time
management. Please sign and return the note
on Monday along with the parent folder. –
Add any comments you’d like on the lines
provided.
Note from the school nurse: The “stomach flu” is
not actually caused by influenza viruses, which is
what the annual flu shot can protect you from. So,
even though you and your children should be
vaccinated for the flu, it won’t protect you from the
family of bugs that can make you sick to your
stomach. Frequent hand-washing is the best
prevention. If hands can’t be washed before eating a
snack, encourage your child to eat the food with a
napkin or wrapper.

Poems of the Week
Content Focus – Figurative Language Please choose a poem to memorize and recite to the class.
Fog
By Carl Sandburg
The fog comes
on little cat feet.
It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.
The Eagle By Alfred Lord Tennyson
He clasps the crag with crooked hands;
Close to the sun in lonely lands,
Ringed with the azure world, he stands.
The wrinkled see beneath him crawls;
He watched from his mountain walls,
And like a thunderbolt he falls.
The Panther
By Ogden Nash
The panther is like a leopard,
Except it hasn’t been peppered,
Should you behold a panther crouch, prepare to say Ouch.
Better yet, it called by a panther,
Don’t anther.
