Battery banks with series-connected batteries to
power emergency systems are used worldwide.
The series-connected batteries have single
e differences in voltage, causing some not to fully load and others are overloaded, damaging them. The result is
premature deterioration and loss of reliability. For managers of mission-critical systems, there is no other choice but
the scheduled replacement of all batteries, since there was no other solution. In addition to the durability problem,
the reliability causes great concern for the administrators of Critical-Mission systems, generating high maintenance
costs.

BACS System® is a revolutionary solution for Battery Single Active
Equalization. It is a patented and unique system in the world market,
produced under exclusive license of CM Comandos.
Each battery receives a Battery Module connected to a controller,
the WebManager Central. The Central supervises the final voltage of the
battery and controls the Battery Modules to regulate the voltage across
each battery, so that all the batteries always have the same voltage.
Each battery module has a microcontroller and an active module that
keep all batteries equalized, that is, within the same voltage.
The Active Equalization ensures that all batteries are also equally
charged with the same voltage, eliminating the negative effect of a
battery to overload one another, with load excess or the contrary,
to prevent the adjacent batteries to be fully charged.
The BACS® system allows batteries to reach100% of its shelf life,
designed by the manufacturers.Before, without BACS®, batteries
deteriorated themselves early and they had to be replaced. Depending
on the type of the battery, the durability can be doubled, eliminating
replacements and reducing the recycling needs.The recycling process
consumes large amounts of natural resources.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
BACS® - Active Equalization
The center control controls each module, connected in parallel
with the battery and controls the voltage so that all batteries
are equal. In addition, it constantly monitors individually the
Internal Resistance and the temperature of each battery, stores
data for analysis and triggers alarms before failure takes place.

Battery impedance measurement
The internal impedance is the actual parameter of the battery
status. In addition, it measures the individual voltage and

Single Active equalization of Batteries
The active battery module individually regulates
the voltage of each battery and keeps them
homogeneous, increasing its durability, capacity and
resistance against corrosion and sulfation.
Prevents and protects against overchanging
Through Active Equalization the batteries are
individually protected against overcharging,
preventing them from gas venting, drying of the
internal electrolyte and internal overheat.
Prevents and protects against Lack of Load
The single Active Equalization of batteries prevents
them to receive lower voltage, avoiding sulphation and
loss of capacity.
Battery Failure indicator
By measuring the Voltage, Impedance and
Temperature, the system tracks the typical battery
failures, such as sulfation, corrosion, oss of gases, drying
of electrolyte and
internal heating.
Reduces Battery Sulfation
The problem arises from the batteries chargers
and rectifiers, which regulate the flotation or
equalizing in the final voltage of the battery and do not
guarantee that some batteries receive higher voltage,
and other, less voltage. Through Active Equalization, all
batteries are kept with balanced voltage.
Protection against battery contamination
Through the single Active Equalization of each
battery, damage to one battery next to the nearby
batteries are avoided, the effect of contamination,
i.e., a bad battery damages the good ones.
Battery capacity optimization
Thanks to Active Equalization, the BACS® system
ensures full charge and maximum battery optimization.
Warning for replacing batteries
By analyzing the impedance curve, a trend
can be found, already in the initial stage of
installation, if a battery is damaged or just
weaker than the other ones. The sooner this
diagnosis is made, the better for the rest of
the useful life of the other batteries.
Battery warnings
By monitoring key parameters of batteries and
measurements of previously established thresholds,
the system sends warnings automatically to
system administrators.
Remote maintenance
The BACS® system optimizes the quality of
service, providing remote monitoring via the Internet,
VPN or other network to download data in real time
and access to the battery history for analysis.
Maintenance with the system on
The single battery tests can be done remotely
without the effort to turn off the batteries.
The maintenance and battery tests can be
carried out in real operating conditions, without
the need to shutdown the system.
