Overview
of the Program
The Undergraduate Certificate in Logistics & Supply Chain
Management (UCLOG) is an elite program from the Center for
Latin-American Logistics Innovation (CLI) hosted at the Bogota
campus, and geared towards outstanding undergraduate
students from all over the world. The UCLOG is open for
students fully enrolled in bachelor programs in areas relevant to
supply chain management and logistics.
The program is taught by researchers and lecturers from CLI
and the MIT Center for Transportation & Logistics in the most
innovating topics in Logistics & Supply Chain Management.

The UCLOG will provides a unique world-class experience that supports the pathway to
successful professional careers in the discipline, with the objective of developing in students
the necessary knowledge and abilities for innovative problem-solving and designing
Logistics & Supply Chain Management solutions within multiple realistic constrains, involving
partner leading companies and outstanding faculty from the CLI and the MTI SCALE
Network, who create a challenging , hands-on and state-of-the-art learning environment.

Isabel heads the Center for Latin-American Logistics Innovation
(CLI) – a partnership between LOGYCA / RESEARCH and the MIT
Center for Transportation and Logistics (MIT CTL).
Vivian Rangel
Research Track Leader in
SUSTAINABILITY
Vivian Rangel is a Sustainability Research Specialist. She has 7 years of
experience in developing tools and strategies to quantify and mitigate
environmental impact in value networks.
Yohany Jiménez
Leader in NEW SERVICES DEVELOPMENT
Yohany currently serves as New Services Development Leader at the
Center for Latin-American Logistics Innovation (CLI), an alliance
between LOGYCA / RESEARCH and the MIT Center for Transportation
and Logistics (MIT CTL).

Jose Hincapié
Research Track Leader in
LOGISTICS PUBLIC POLICY
José recently joined LOGYCA / RESEARCH in March of 2016 as
Research Track Leader in Logistics Public Policy. Before joining
LOGYCA, José worked for 3 years as Senior Advisor in the National
Planning Department (a Colombian government agency).
Felipe Serrano
Research Track Leader in
TECHNOLOGY IN THE VALUE NETWORK
He has been leading projects in new technologies (RFID, Active RFID,
Video Analytics, Exception Handling in POS, Traceability Platforms, etc.)

Daniel Merchán
PhD Candidate, MIT Megacity Logistics Lab
Daniel Merchán is pursuing a Ph.D. in Engineering Systems at the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His research focuses on
logistics operations in large urban areas. Specifically, Daniel explores
how big data sources can be leveraged to inform last-mile
strategies and operational plans, through data science, optimization
and simulation methods.
André Snoeck
PhD Candidate, MIT Megacity Logistics Lab
André Snoeck is a research assistant at the Megacity Logistics Lab
at the MIT Center for Transportation and Logistics and a Ph.D.
student in the Interdepartmental Program of Transportation. His
research focuses on the multi-tier distribution network design in
the context of last mile delivery and urban freight transportation
and last-mile delivery data analytics.

Sergio Caballero
PhD. Postdoctoral Researcher, MIT Megacity Logistics Lab
Sergio Caballero is a Postdoctoral Associate at the MIT Center for
Transportation and Logistics. He has over ten years of experience in
Logistics and Supply Chain Management in industry and academia.
Sergio Caballero has been part of the Megacity Logistics Lab, a
pioneering initiative in the field of urban logistics, since 2013.
Josué C. Velázquez-Martínez
PhD. Director, MIT SCALE Latin America
His main role is to lead the Center for Transportation & Logistics’
Global SCALE Network. Dr. Velázquez-Martínez is also the Director
of the MIT Graduate Certificate in Logistics & Supply Chain
Management (GCLOG), an elite program designed for outstanding
students from Latin America.

Who is CLI?
In 2008, the MIT Center for Transportation & Logistics and the logistics education and
GS1 firm LOGYCA, signed a multi-year agreement to create the Center for
Latin-American Logistics Innovation (CLI) as part of the MIT Global SCALE.
Network of supply chain research centers. Through this partnership, the MIT Global
SCALE Network has developed a vibrant academic and research network throughout
Latin America.

The UCLOG 2017 will take place from July 3th to Aug 4th, 2017 (5 weeks).
The program will follow the principles of Challenge-based learning, which is a teaching strategy
focused on providing students with a learning challenge based on a relevant and real problem
situation, in order to develop a plausible solution alternative. This involves:

Challenge based Learning activities:
260 activity-hours in total
50-60 hours of classroom learning activities
Exploration activities: Guest speakers and company tours to introduce the context/problem
situation and background.
Learning and investigation modules: Relevant lectures, seminars, workshops, simulation
games, lab work and company tours to support problem-solving and solutions design
40-50 hours of industry-linked activities
Challenge immersion and engagement: company immersion for observation, engaging
stakeholders, data collection, and coaching.
Collaborative problem-solving: team problem solving and coaching, and plenary sessions for
creation, documentation, reflection and sharing progress.
155 hours of independent studies

5 hours of outcomes evaluation and assessment
