The trip to Moramba bay: 60 € per person Minimum 4 people The cruise starts in the morning and lasts about 3 hours. Approximately 30 minutes away, North of the lodge, you will discover a bay with unusual mushroom-shaped islands, compounds of tsingy topped with surprisingly lush vegetation including curious baobabs. Moramba is the best place to see the rare Madagascan fish eagle. This instructive trip will also take you to a sacred baobab aged over a thousand years deemed to grant wishes of fertility. (Soft drinks included, snorkelling equipments provided) Cocktail trip up to mangrove by boat: 30 € per person Minimum 4 people (High tidal range only) This ravishing cruise will take you up the mangrove estuary where you will be able to discover a unique and beautiful setting. The boat will leave just before dusk so you can watch the sundown in the mangrove while sipping on a cocktail and enjoying nature’s serenity. Birdwatching enthusiasts may also spot water birds such as the Madagascan sacred ibis and the Madagascan flying fox. Private boat trips: 600 € for our SAMBIRAVO boat and 750 € for TALIO boat. Please note that the months of July and August might be very windy. Soft drinks included, supplement for picnic lunch (Cost on half board, simple picnic: 25 € / person). There is a charge for a “lost lure” at 25 €. Half day fishing trips: Game Fishing trip: 100 €/hour/boat (Maximum 4 people) (We recommend a 3 hours trip minimum). Our Skipper will take you to the best game fishing spots in Madagascar where you might catch Marlins, Yellow Fin Tuna, Wahoo, King Mackerel, Sailfish and other big fishes. Popper fishing: 80 €/hour/boat (Maximum 2 people) On a reef plateau located 30 km away from the lodge (about 40 minutes by boat) with magnificent coral walls, the waters abound with Barracuda, Wahoo, Kingfish, Tuna. Water skiing: On the shores of Ambodro Ampasy Village, mono or wakeboarding. 25 € / 20 minutes. Catamaran (Hobicat 14) accompanied – free of charge Snorkelling around the beaches of the lodge – free of charge Windsurfing, kayak, paddle surf on sea or on the mangrove – free of charge The sailing club is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Excursions, walks in the forest and visits to villages Most people can do the following excursions. For most of them, no special physical skills are required. Through the marked out track, you will discover the dry deciduous forest, the surrounding coves and the fishermen’s villages… If you wish, one of our guides will come with you and will show you the luxuriance and the diversity of the vegetation. You will have the opportunity to see lemurs, chameleons, birds, crabs, etc. - Night walk 1,5km, 1h15 (departing between 19h15 and 20h15 depending on the season) You will discover the nocturnal animals of the reserve during an easy walk, accompanied by our guide. - “Le chemin du Puits salé” (The Salt Water Well Track) 1,5km, 1h30 To get there, you will pass through the deserted beach "Ampasy Mokonazy» and you will walk through the dry forest. You will see a "tombeau sakalava" (Sakalava family vault) and a "puits d’eau salé» (salt water well). - “La balade du Géant et l’Allée des Rois” 2,5km, 2h30 You will discover a huge baobab, tsingy (indigenous rock) and the main endemic Malagasy vegetation and fauna. - “Le chemin des crabes” The Crab Path 1,5km, 1h30 Discover baobabs, famous hairy crabs, endemic birds and visit a small cave where you will find a fossilized lemur skull, stalactites, sharks’ teeth… A guide is mandatory. Not possible in rainy season. - “La grotte des Sakalava” The Sakalava Cave 4km, 2 h Discover the world underground: you will see stalagmites, stalactites and “Pteropus rufus” (tiny fruit bats). You can go there either by foot or by 4WD. A guide is mandatory. Not possible in rainy season. - La grotte “Tsimanindroa” The « Tsimanindroa » Cave 35 km, all day This is the only excursion that requires physical skills as it is a 35 km round trip from the lodge and a 20 km round trip from the airstrip. After going through the forest, the beautiful landscapes of tsingy and the bush, you will find this mysterious cave. A guide is mandatory. www.anjajavy.com 2014-2015 ACTIVITIES Page 2/3 - “De crique en crique” 6km, 4h Wandering alongside Anjajavy's South coast, you’ll discover seven wild and deserted inlets. Each of them boasts a unique particularity. One of them is a privacy haven, another one is ideal for snorkelling when the weather allows it and you might also be able to spot a couple of fishing eagles while enjoying a walk between Cove 3 and Cove 5. Surely, one of them will suit your taste for a next swimming session or a romantic picnic. - Romantic picnic (Between 11 AM and 5 PM) 50€ / Person (Or 25€/pers if on full board). Supplement for drinks. The first and second inlets of the Lodge’s private peninsula are ideal for lovely picnic lunches (15min walk per cove). Upon arrival, the cove’s waiter will welcome you and prepare a fine barbecue. He will then leave you to enjoy the privacy of this dream nest, swinging in the hammock or laying under the beach mosquito net. - Tea time in the Oasis Free of charge Teatime every day is at 17h00 in the oasis. This garden is a unique setting designed and landscaped by Camille Muller. This is a perfect place and time to meet with lemurs. - Visit the Anjajavy village 35€ per person by boat, 10€ per person by car (10€ are going in full to the village development fund held by the lodge) Anjajavy Village is situated on a breathtakingly beautiful beach approximately 8km south of the lodge. Sunday is traditionally “Market Day” at Anjajavy village, when people gather to buy local fresh produce and clothes, but also to meet with people who come to Anjajavy from the surrounding villages. This visit will give you the opportunity to see a local market, visit the local school and also see the local non-governmental organization community projects on site. - Visit the Ambodro Ampasy village (10€ per person - are going in full to the village development fund held by the lodge) Located on the shores facing the Marina, the only way to access Ambodro Ampasy village is by boat. Visit the free health centre, meet the Doctor and visit the school established by "Ecole du Monde", a non-governmental organization Anjajavy le lodge is a strong supporter of, and their projects in the surrounding villages. - Mountain bike: Discover the forest by mountain bike.
