Talent Search Information
When is the Talent Show? Students must attend the dress rehearsal on Thursday, March 9th
beginning at 3:45 and ending at 5:30. The Talent Show takes place on Friday, March 10th for the school
during the day and for our families and community at 5:30pm.
What is a talent? We are looking for dancing, singing, karate, magic, juggling, comedy acts, baton
twirling, poetry, drama, gymnastics, instruments or any other appropriate talent you would like to share.
Who can participate? Any PKL student, grades 5K-4, who have an approved audition.
When are auditions? Tuesday, January 31st @ 3:45pm in the music room.
Tuesday, February 7th @3:45pm in the music room.
How many acts can I be in? One. If you are participating with your class in an act (ex. Mrs. Bourdo’s
class is doing a dance) you may still participate in one act besides the whole group one.
How long can my act be? Please limit your act to 2 minutes and under.
I am using background music for my act. How do I get that? Many acts will have music in the
background whether it is to sing with (karaoke versions of songs, please) or dance to. Many songs can be
found on the internet. Please have your music on a CD, cut down to 2 minutes and edited as we will only
allow “clean” versions of songs. All music should be with you during auditions. Please make 2 copies of
your music; one for you to practice to, and one for Ms. Mankins to keep and download for the
performance.
I am a 4th grader. I would like to sign-up to do Stage Crew, audition for an MC spot, and be in an
act. Is this possible? Good question! As a 4th grader, you are able to fill out a permission slip to be in a
drawing for the Stage Crew; you may also audition to be an MC (February 3rd during lunch). If you are
part of the stage crew or are an MC, you may still participate in an act. You may not be part of the stage
crew and be an MC, however. Permission slips and more information will be sent home the week of
January 30th. You will be notified the week of February 6th if you will be part of Stage Crew or a
MC.
Can I get a Talent Show shirt? Yes, you can. Please enclose $10 with your permission slip. Make sure
to circle the correct size. They will be delivered to your child the week of March 6th. T-shirts are not
mandatory.

4th Grade –
MC Permission Slip

Congratulations! You made it to 4th grade and you know what that means….you can be an MC at
the Talent Show! MC auditions will be held Friday, February 3rd in the library during lunch.
Students will be asked to read from an old Talent Show script and do some impromptu acting.
Directors will notify students on February 3rd by letter if they will be an MC for the show.
Chosen students will be required to practice their script on their own, as well as attend
rehearsals on Mondays and Tuesdays during lunch starting February 21st.

MC – Rehearsal Dates and Times
MC rehearsals will take place during the 4th grade lunch recess beginning February 21st. If
selected as an MC, your child will be required to attend these rehearsals.
They are also required to attend the dress rehearsal and both shows.

Stage Crew Permission Slip
Congratulations! You made it to 4th grade and you know what that means….you can be part of the
Stage Crew in the Talent Show! Students in 4th grade will be selected for Stage Crew via a
random drawing. If selected, Stage Crew students will need to provide their own black pants to
wear during the performances and we will provide the Stage Crew t-shirt that will need to be
returned after the final show. If they would like a Talent Show t-shirt, they will need to
enclose $10.
**Permission Slips must be turned in by January 27th.**
