Cheektowaga, NY – March 29, 2011 – Supervisor Mary F. Holtz convened a meeting of key
personnel of the Cheektowaga Police Department and the Technology Committee to learn how
Facebook and other social media outlets such as Twitter could be used as a communication tool for
emergency and informational purposes. As a result, Lt. Christina Newman and Thomas Przybylak, of
the Town’s IT staff, have created and posted a Facebook page for the Cheektowaga Police
Department. After posting for just one week, the site has seen good activity with about 150 active
users and more than 350 visits. Lt. Newman is keeping the Facebook page updated for the
Cheektowaga Police Department and Tom Przybylak is currently developing a page for the Town of
Cheektowaga as well as a presence on Twitter. Cheektowaga information can be accessed on Twitter

Supervisor Holtz has also announced plans to develop a Facebook page to focus specifically on
the promotion of economic development within the Town of Cheektowaga.
