APRIL IS NATIONAL POETRY MONTH. As many Preuss students know, April 23 is William
Shakespeare’s birthday. He was born at Stratford-upon-Avon in England and lived from 1564 to 1615.
He is often called the “Bard of Avon” and is considered one of the greatest writers of all time. The
poem below is a song from Twelfth Night with its theme of “carpe diem” or seize the day; that is,
living life to its fullest in each moment now. – Ms. Gabay

Cross Country News:
All high school students and rising 8th graders. There will be a Cross Country meeting on Tuesday,
April 26, in the Walton Center during lunch. Please come to the meeting first before getting your

High School Students: Announcing the Inaugural Preuss Poetry Slam sponsored by Chelsea’s
Light Peer Corps and Art Club! The event will take place on the closed Walton Center Stage on
Wednesday April 27th at 4:oo pm. If you would like to participate or attend please submit your poem

High School Students: The Preuss Insider is now taking applications for its 2016-2017 staff.
Journalism is looking for students interested not only in writing but also taking pictures, fundraising,
designing and laying out the paper. Students who selected Journalism on their course selection sheet
MUST STILL APPLY for the class, and if you did not, you can still change your mind. Just pick up
your application from Ms. Garcia in room E103 and return it to Ms. Garcia by Thurs, April 28.
Journalism is a student-led class with lots of opportunities for leadership positions. Apply today!

Yearbook Applications Now Available: Join yearbook class next year and help create the Preuss
yearbook! Applications are now available in B201 and in the library. Class is open to all students who
will be in grades 9-12 next year and who maintain a GPA of 3.0 or greater. Enjoy a chance to be
creative, learn about photography and design, and contribute to your school! (4/22 Mr. Ensberg)
