All About The Hunt
Animal Hunt
What is a museum? What kinds of
objects are in it? What can we see when
we look carefully at art? How can objects
tell us about people in the past?
Pupils encounter highlights from the
diverse collection at The Hunt Museum in
a fun and accessible way. Pupils will build
their observation skills through
problem-solving, investigation, drawing
and discussion. In an age-appropriate
way, children explore artistic elements
such as shape, line, colour, and texture.
Children encounter simple historical
concepts such as objects as evidence.
What kinds of animals are hidden in the
collection? Why do artists draw animals?
How do artists imagine the animal? Do the
animals look like animals you have seen in
real life?
Hunt for animals in the
Museum’s galleries! Pupils will
discover how animals have
been depicted in art from
ancient to modern times. Pupils
will also encounter real and
mythological animals. Learning
strategies Include discussion,

Duration: 1hr 30mins
Dante’s Inferno, Gerry Andrews
Children will participate in an interactive tour
of the Gerry Andrews Faces and Places
photography exhibition, which will be
peppered with activities enabling them to
explore diverse geographical cultures and
traditions. Through group work, they will
identify different countries featured in
exhibition photographs and will then locate
them on a large map. There will also be
plenty of discussion and creative activities
enabling pupils to draw from and build on
their existing knowledge of the world and its
many different cultures.
Jack B. Yeats and Paul Henry:
Contrasting Visions of Ireland
Yeats and Henry had the ability to capture in
their painting snapshots of the real Ireland.
Yeats achieved this through his examination
of Ireland’s rich sporting heritage and Henry
through his landscapes of the west of Ireland.
Through a short interactive tour, students will
explore and interpret the work of these artists.
Their visual literacy will be increased as they
become familiar with key terms associated
these paintings. Inspired by these artworks
they will be asked to produce a postcard
scene. They will imagine they live in this world
and will write a note home to their family.
Suitable for 1st – 6th class

the bees’ – from a safe distance! At the end of the workshop they will make their
own buzzy bee to take home with them to remind them how important bees are to
our planet.
Duration: 1hr 30mins
Workshops cost €3 per student.
Suitable for Senior Infants up.
