Library Type: Separate
Separate libraries are established in a designated room of the school. This is either a room that has been
constructed by Room to Read, or an unused space such as a storage room or teacher’s office. This type of library
is designed to create a print rich environment that enables and supports the development of students' reading
habits. The room is stocked with books in addition to shelving, furniture, games, posters, and library stationery.
The furniture is designed to ensure children can easily see and access the books. The walls are covered in maps,
student work, and educational posters so that students feel at ease and welcome to read books freely. Students

LAUNCH REPORT
Library Management Training
Room to Read provides all librarians and teachers involved with our libraries with a minimum of three days of
training in the first year of our support, and one to two days of refresher training in both the second and third
years. These trainings build on each other and align with the library's stage of development. We also support
educators by providing direct coaching and program implementation feedback during regular library monitoring
