REQUEST FOR DEFERRED ENROLLMENT Admitted students may have the option of deferring enrollment for one or two semesters. Students will sometimes defer enrollment for reasons including (but not limited to) service trips, national and international travel, familial reasons or personal growth. This form must be completed and submitted to University of Portland’s Office of Admissions to be approved for deferred enrollment. Approval will be determined by the Dean of Admissions. PLEASE READ AND INITIAL IN AGREEMENT EACH CONDITION OF DEFERRAL: _____ A non-refundable tuition deposit of $400 is required from those students who intend to enroll at University of Portland. The postmark deadline for the deposit and the Enrollment Confirmation form is May 1, 2017 (checks payable to University of Portland). _____ Attach a brief summary of your anticipated plans for your period of deferral. _____ The deferral option is not intended to allow students to begin or continue their college career elsewhere. A student may not attend another institution during the time of deferral. _____ Students has not been offered admission to the School of Nursing. Accepted Nursing students will not be considered for deferred enrollment. _____ Students has not been offered admission off of our Wait List. Students who have once been on UP’s Waitlist are not permitted to defer enrollment. _____ Prior to enrollment at University of Portland, each deferred student will be required to: a. Reaffirm his/her intention to enroll at University of Portland by February 1, 2018 b. Update his/her contact information (including mailing and email addresses) with the Office of Admissions. PLEASE NOTE: Students applying for financial aid will need to re-file the FAFSA in October of 2017. If an Admissions merit-based scholarship has been awarded for the upcoming academic year, it will be honored when the student enrolls the following semester/year. Departmental, talent-based, athletic, and/or any other scholarships received outside of the Office of Admissions are not guaranteed for the following year. Please discuss the award with the scholarship’s point of contact.
