AUXILIARY VERBS

Auxiliary Verbs are Helping Verbs; they are used to assist the Main Verb.
These verbs help us to show the tense in a sentence.
Example:
1. This train is going to Mumbai.
is – Auxiliary verb
going – main verb
2. The boys have eaten their dinner.
have – Auxiliary verb
eaten – main verb
Auxiliary Verbs are used to frame questions.
Example:
1. Did they go out for dinner?
2. Have we finished our work?
Auxiliary Verbs are also used to make negative sentences.
Example:
1. I did not go out to play.
2. The children are not talking.
Following are some of the auxiliary verbs :
1 The forms of ‘be’ : am \ is \ are \ was \ were
2. The forms of ‘do’ : do\ does \ did
3. The forms of ‘have’ : has \ have \ had
