Want to to achieve success ?
Spread your wings to discover new horizons in the promising journey of your life. While
doing so, do not get disheartened by the impediments and challenges you may come across.
They are there for a purpose. They transform you from ordinary to extra-ordinary things. It is
the rough sea that makes a skilled sailor. A ship may be safe in the harbor but that is not what
a ship is built for. If the charcoal had thought that it was ugly and good-for –nothing, it would
not have turned into a sparkling diamond. Similarly, if a person like Helen-Keller had thought
that it was impossible for her to read and write, she could not have championed the cause of
the visually challenged. Had Arjun Bajpal thought that he was too young to trek, he would
not have been successful in scaling the Mount Everest at the tender age of sixteen. These
examples irrefutably prove that anyone can aim and achieve success against all odds
Choose the most appropriate answer from the alternatives given.

Nature – by Friendly
Being eco-friendly is in vogue. Whether on the ramp or at home, a large number of
people are emphasizing the use of eco-friendly products, thereby doing their bit to protect the
environment. “Eco-friendly products are those products that inflict minimal or no harm to
the environment. Made of natural elements, these products are not only safe but also add an
artistic dimension to one’s home”, explains C.K. Nair of Home stop.
The products are made of environment sensitive material such as recycled wood, dead
wood, recycled paper, bamboo, jute, natural fibre and natural or organic cotton. “Grasses like
sabai grass and vetiver can be woven to make mats, screens, bags and baskets. Old textiles
can be used to make recycled paper, which can be used for packaging, lampshades, notebooks
and other stationery. Recycled plastic can be used for containers and furniture, says Minhazz
Majumdar of the Bamboo store.
Though there’s been a lot of awareness about using eco-friendly products, it is still not

The kumbh festival’s history goes back to the time when, during a battle between the
gods and the demons, four precious drops of amrit (the nector of immortality) from a kumbh
(pot) fell in Allahabad, Haridwar, Ujjain and Nashik. The festival, when celebrated every six
years, is called the Ardha Kumbh, every 12 years the Purna Kumbha and every 144 years the
Mahakumbh. 2013, being the year of Mahakumbh, it has been a once-in –a-lifetime
opportunity- the most sacred, the most auspicious. The three rivers, the Ganga, Yamuna and
the mystical Saraswati, are said to meet in Allahabad. The Mahakumbh Mela of 2013 was
considered to be the largest religious gathering on Earth. It is believed that the crowd was so
huge that it could be seen from space. This Mahakumbh saw a football of more than 120
million pilgrims who gathered in Allahabad to take part in the mela and wash away their sins
in the sangam- the confluence of the three rivers. This took place over a period of 55 days,
starting from January 14 to March 10.
In addition to the huge gathering and the faith of pilgrims, the coulur and flavour of
the festival, the organization and the management on the part of the authorities contributed to
its singular success.

HOPE IS THE THING WITH FEATHERS
By Emily Dickinson
“Hope” is the thing with feathers—
That perches in the soul—
And sings the tune without the words—
And never stops --- at all –
And sweetest – in the Gale – is heard –
And sore must be the storm –
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm—
I’ve heard it in the chillest land –
And on the strangest Sea –
Yet, never in Extremity,
It asked a crumb – of Me.
