FEBRUARY 2017
Dear Member,
NOW AVAILABLE
MEMBERSHIP RECRUITMENT
INCENTIVE 2017
The new Captains for 2017 had a very good day for their
Drive In. In the past few years there has been snow, fog,
wind and rain to contend with but the mild (comparative)
day saw a successful start to their term of office. Left to right
– Mike Waygood–Mens Captain, Jenny Kelly-Ladies’ Captain,
Tom Richie-Junior Captain, Glyn Wictome-Seniors Captain. In
the speech’s that followed all the outgoing captains spoke of
the enjoyable but hectic year that they had had and thanked
the members for their support throughout their year. The
preceding 9 hole competition was won by Will Skyrme with
38-9-29, Brian Morgan was 2nd with 33-3.5-29.5 and third
Les Baker with 39-8.5-30.5. Chris Evans took the Ladies prize
with 49-9.5-39.5. Pip Frost took 2nd place with 47-6.5-40.5
We know the best way to recruit new
members is by word of mouth.
This year the club is launching a
membership recruitment drive to
encourage new full members 18 years
and over to join the club.
Existing Member’s and the New
Member will receive an incentive. For
example the full membership fee for
2017 is £570 the new member aged 30
and over will receive a £100 discount on
joining. The new member remaining a
member in 2018 will receive a further
discount of £50 The KGC member who
recruited the new member will receive
a membership discount of £50 in 2018.
The KGC member will also receive a
membership discount of £50 in 2019 if
the new member remains a member in
2018. Available to new full members
age 30 and above, full members 18 -29
will receive a pro-rata discount. Who
might these new members be? Your
neighbour, someone you work with, in
another sporting activity or social group,
people moving into the area or people
retiring. We have set a target of
recruiting 30 new full members and
with your support I know we will
achieve this target.
Thank you. Membership Secretary.

Mizuno Demo Day
Monday
20th FEB. 1pm-5pm
Come and try the new Mizuno
JPX 900 Driver and fairways at
Kington Golf Club on Monday
20th of February. Launching in
February 2017, the new JPX900
uses a raft of our best design
ideas to send the ball a really,
really long way. It’s built on
consistently high ball speeds,
that don’t drop off on miss-hits.
Added to that, the JPX900’s
shallower profile looks easy to
hit, sending all the right
messages to your brain. The
JPX900 is also our most
adaptable driver ever – so you
can create the spin rates and
launch angle best suited to your
ball speed (even if it’s probably a
bit faster than you’re used to).
What a difference a week
makes – one week on from the
Drive in we were back into
Winter conditions.
Call into the shop to see how
this driver can work for you.
Diary - Remember that there is a Roll Up for the Men on Sunday Mornings when there is no official comp. Be
at the clubhouse before 8.30 to get included in the draw. Martin Blackaller has done a splendid job over the
last couple of events – but give him a chance, by not turning up at the last possible moment!!!

Wife texts husband on a cold winter morning: "Windows
frozen, won't open." Husband texts back: "Gently pour
some lukewarm water over it and then gently tap edges
with hammer." Wife texts back 10 minutes later: "Computer
really messed up now."
Or clearly the club wishes to
be a men only club.
And finally One bright, beautiful
Sunday morning, the
townspeople were in
church, listening to the
organ play. Suddenly,
Satan appeared at the
front of the church.
Everyone started
screaming and running
for the front entrance,
trampling each other in
a frantic effort to get
away from evil
incarnate. Soon
everyone was
evacuated from the
Church, except for one
elderly gentleman who
sat calmly in his pew,
not moving, seemingly
oblivious to the fact that
God's ultimate enemy
was in his presence.
Now this confused
Satan a bit, so he
walked up to the man
and said, "Don't you
know who I am?" The
man replied, "Yep, sure
do." Satan asked,
"Aren't you afraid of
me?" "Nope, sure ain't,"
said the man. Satan
was a little perturbed at
this and queried, "Why
aren't you afraid of me?"
The man calmly replied,
"Been married to your
sister for 48 years!"
