Newsletter No.12 March 2017

Newsletter from St Ann’s Heath
Issue 12– 23rd March 2017
Governors met yesterday and made a decision on leadership of the school which provides stability, continuity and builds on
our strengths from within. In the short term, Mrs King will continue to lead the school through to the end of the summer
term with the full backing and support of governors.
From September, and for the academic year 2017-18, Mrs King and Mrs O’Connor are appointed as acting Co-Headteachers.
In this arrangement, Mrs King and Mrs O’Connor will develop the leadership structure working together to fulfil the
responsibilities of the Headteacher and Assistant Headteacher roles. Governors sincerely wish Mrs King and Mrs O’Connor
every success as they step into this new challenge.
Governors would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and appreciate the extraordinary role that Mrs King has undertaken during this current academic year – taking on both the Headteacher and Asst Headteacher roles has been a task that
very few will truly understand. The governors are very grateful that Mrs King has had the ability, determination and loyalty to
the school that has allowed her to lead the school in such an exemplary manner.
In governor committees, the Finance & Staffing committee continues to seek creative solutions to the ever declining school
budget situation. In that context, your support with events like Winder Wonderland and your contributions to the School
Voluntary Fund are increasingly important in enabling staff to provide the best they can for the children.
The Learning committee has been monitoring improvements in how we measure children’s progress so that each child
achieves their highest potential.
In Vision & Ethos committee, safeguarding self-assessment has been a major focus – this is an area of strength and we are
always looking to maintain and extend our ability to safeguard children and staff. On behaviour, it was lovely to hear the children’s exemplary behaviour being commented on by everyone present at the recent recruitment day, please thank all your
children.
Thank you to all our parents and carers for your support. We should all be reminded just how proud we can be of who we are
and of what we do at St Ann’s Heath
