CBS CORPORATION KEY NEWS:
DEC. 2014 — FEB. 2015
SPECIAL EDITION
In January, CBS announced the renewals of
the hit freshman dramas (clockwise l-r): NCIS:
NEW ORLEANS, MADAM SECRETARY and
SCORPION (all 100% owned by CBS) for the
2015-2016 broadcast season. The series represent the #1, #2 and #3 most-watched new
programs on broadcast
television this season. All three rank among
network television’s top 10 scripted series,
and are produced by CBS Television Studios.
In total, CBS has 15 hit scripted series in the
top 20, three times all the other networks
combined. The Network’s success is driven by
a balanced schedule of new and established
hits. Of our 15 series in the Top 20, six have
been on the air three years or less; five have
been on between four and six years, and four
have been on seven years or more, representing some of the most valuable content
franchises CBS owns. (Source: NTI)
ENTERTAINMENT
On Jan. 11 and 12, CBS, SHOWTIME and
The CW participated in the annual
Television Critics Association Winter
Press Tour in Pasadena, CA.
The two-day event was attended by more than 200 print,
broadcast and online television
journalists, and featured executive
sessions, panels and Q&As with

remarks to Tour attendees, CBS
Entertainment Chairman Nina Tassler reported: “We've
had another terrific year. Once again we're #1 in viewers
.... with the new year-round programming plan that has
more original series and fewer repeats on the schedule
than ever before, we are positioned to grow more in the
months ahead.” Noting that the network television business is changing, Tassler pointed out that “the number of
ways that viewers watch our shows and how we get paid
for them continues to increase. Our ratings are higher on
DVR and VOD, and more viewers are watching our content online.” She went on to say “CBS's ability to build
big audiences for our network and for our shows distinguishes our brand in all parts of our business to advertisers on the network, to our distributors when we negotiate
carriage agreements, and to those who license our
shows in syndication and around the world.”
NFL AND CBS CONTINUE THURSDAY NIGHT
FOOTBALL PACKAGE PARTNERSHIP
“The benefits of
Thursday Night
Football are evident
across our
Corporation, including
a strengthened primetime lineup that has
built on its number
one position. The NFL
continues to be the
best premium content
in the business, and we
look forward to another
year of our expanded
partnership in 20152016, a season that will
culminate with Super
Bowl 50 on CBS.”
-- Leslie Moonves, CBS
President and CEO
On Jan. 18 the National
Football League and CBS
announced they will continue their partnership to produce and televise THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL for
the 2015-2016 season.
“I could not be more
proud of the job the
CBS Sports team did in
conjunction with our
partners at the NFL in
producing, branding and
positioning Thursday
night football as a television destination for
viewers. The awareness
and viewership for
Thursday Night Football
grew dramatically in
2014, and we look forward to continuing this
trend.”
-- Sean McManus,
Chairman, CBS Sports
Under the deal, CBS will
broadcast the first eight
Thursday Night Football
games, which also will be
simulcast on NFL Network.
NFL Network will also
exclusively televise eight
games in the run-up to the
playoffs. The mix of games
will include 14 on Thursday
nights and two late-season
games on Saturday. The
full slate of 16 regular sea-
son games will be produced by CBS with its lead broadcast and production team on all Thursday night games.
The pregame, halftime and postgame shows will continue
l The addition of the freshman drama MADAM
SECRETARY to CBS's Sunday night has elevated
upscale audiences (A18+ in households earning
$150,000 per year) for the Network's 7:00-10:00 PM
block with dramatic increases in the 8:00-9:00 PM hour.

to feature NFL Network and CBS Sports hosts and analysts. The agreement is for the 2015-2016 season with an
additional year at the NFL’s option.
