OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES WHILE IN Tsitsikamma, South Africa
YOU MAY SELECT ONE – Afternoon of September 10, 2014
Tsitsikamma Tree Top Canopy Tour
The Tsitsikamma Canopy Tour© is a unique eco-wilderness adventure that takes place in the
magnificent Tsitsikamma indigenous rainforest. The first of its kind in Africa, the canopy tour involves
traversing from one platform to another along a steel cable suspended up to 30 meters above the forest
floor. The scenery and bird life is spectacular and professional guides provide
interesting facts about the forest ecology during the 2½ to 3 hours. After a detailed
safety briefing followed by a 'kitting up' session one takes a short drive into the
Tsitsikamma forest. From the start a new world unfolds as one gently glides to the
first platform. The platforms, built high up in the giant Outeniqua Yellowwoods, provide an unbelievable
view of this enchanting new world. Spend a couple of minutes relaxing while your guides enthusiastically
explain the ecology of the forest - pointing out different trees and the magnificent giant ferns way below.
Sightings of the Knysna Loeries, the elusive Narina Trogon and the Vervet monkey are not uncommon. The Tsistikamma Canopy
Tour© consists of 10 platforms and 10 'fufi' slides. About three hours later you exit the forest, having undertaken the journey of
a lifetime.
Tour Cost: $67.00 per person (Includes guides and light refreshments). (MAX 8 per group - Max 3 groups) Transfers Included
Tsitsikamma Woodcutters Trail
Join us on a journey down the old Storms River pass and experience the indigenous
forest from the comfort of a specially designed vehicle. Follow the elephant trail
down to the water, passing tree ferns, stinkwoods, yellow woods and many other
tree species, whilst hearing about the history of the area and the local flora and
fauna. Watch out for a glimpse of the elusive Narina Trogan and the inquisitive
Knysna Loeire who enjoy the tranquil shade of the leafy canopy. Stop and relax
where wagons, since the last century, have and enjoy a light lunch or tea next to the
Storms River.
Tour cost: $21.00 per person (MAX 35 people) Transfers Included
Tsitsikamma Segway tours

Tsitsikamma Mountain Biking
Enjoy the beauty of the Tsitsikamma on a slow ride with our Mountain bikes…
 Cycle the 22km route through the Old Storms River Pass to the viewpoint of the Tsitsikamma National park and back or
simply do the 12 km to the Low Water Bridge and back.
 No annoying engine noises, no fumes, just pure nature at its best!
Departing from the Tsitsikamma Mountain Bikes / Tsitsikamma EEZI Bikes office, this cycle route follows the alignment of the old
National Road through the Storms River Pass, which was bypassed in 1955, with the building of the well-known cantilever bridge
over the Storms River gorge.
The 5 km decent to the river passes through the indigenous forest and offers some wonderful views of the gorge. At the river
one can swim in a number of places. The brown, but clear waters of the river leave one refreshed and ready to tackle the ascent
(Beware of currents when the river is flowing strongly after rain.)
After crossing the river the route climbs out of the valley at a fairly easy gradient to the
coastal plateau. Here it turns sharply right and traverses a section of plantation
managed by MTO. A few more kilometers of easy riding brings you to the viewpoint
which overlooks the Storms River mouth and the headquarters of the Tsitsikamma
National Park.
The return route follows a short section through MTO plantations before backtracking
through the Old Pass. The round trip of 26km can be completed within 2.5 to 3 hours.
Bike rental cost: $26.00 per bike (14 people Max.) Transfers Included
