From our Pastor
Mass Intentions
We believe Jesus is risen, therefore
the following words of Pope St. Leo
the Great should encourage us to
draw ever closer to the Lord, who is
within us: "The effect of our sharing
in the body and blood of Christ is to
change us into what we receive. As
we have died with him, and have been
buried and raised to life with him, so
we bear him within us, both in body
and in spirit, in everything we do.”

Oblate meeting on Tuesday -what’s that all about?
You’ve seen “Oblates 5 pm” in the
Upcoming Events lists and on the
monthly calendars for a long time.
Have you ever wondered what an
oblate is, and what this group is all
about?
An “oblation” is an offering, or gift,
to God; “oblates” are men and women who offer their lives to God. Oblates of St Benedict are persons who
seek to deepen their Christian discipleship and become holy in their
own vocations by incorporating the
very practical wisdom found in Benedict’s writings (called his Rule) into
their daily lives. Benedict saw balancing prayer and work as the key to
one’s spiritual health and growth. So
as their schedules permit, Oblates
strive to be faithful to regular personal prayer, the Divine Office, and
reflection on Scripture, along with
offering themselves for the service of
God and neighbor. They also gather
monthly to pray together, discuss
sections of Benedict’s Rule, attend
Mass together, and share a potluck
meal. Twice per year they gather
with Oblates across the region for a
Day of Recollection at St Joseph Abbey. All are welcome to the next
gathering this Tuesday, May 12, at 5
pm. Questions? Call the office.
The end is near!
CCD classes meet once
more next Sunday,
May 17. Awards are
presented and the May
crowning will take place. 11th grade
Confirmation will meet on May 13
and 20, and Y-Prep meets once more
on May 13.
Help Center continues to amaze
During April, the Help Center distributed an astounding total of 11,725
lbs of food to 335 families in need!
This simply would not happen without your donations. Please continue
to give. For May, they
are in great need of 18-oz
and 42-oz containers of
OATS
NON-INSTANT OATS.
Please bring your items
to the parish hall and volunteers will take care of transporting
them to the Help Center. Thank you.
I call you friends.
It was not you who chose me,
but I who chose you
and appointed you to go
and bear fruit that will remain.
This I command you:
Love one another.

The annual Garage Sale (which funds
our Religious Education program) is on
Saturday, June 6, so it’s time to start
looking around your house, attic, and
garage for those gently used items that
might be of interest to someone. We
regret that due to lack of storage space
we cannot begin accepting your donations now, but you can bring your treasures to the parish hall Monday through
Friday, June 1-5, from 8 am - 4 pm. And
set a reminder so you’ll remember to
come on June 6 and shop all the bargains!
