MEXICO’S Incredible Copper Canyon November 14th - 23rd The largest canyon in North America, the Copper Canyon provides a destination unlike any other. For those who love the unusual and seek adventure, the Copper Canyon is the answer! DAY 1 - Fly to sunny Arizona and overnight in Tempe. DAY 2 - This morning we’ll cross into Mexico at Nogales and arrive at Santa Ana for lunch. After lunch we depart for Hermiosillo where we visit the Cathedral and the Government Palace to view the famous murals depicting the history of Sonora. Check into our lovely oceanfront hotel for 2 nights. (B,L,D) DAY 3 - This morning board our private scenic cruise on the Sea of Cortez as we watch for dolphins, seals, exotic birds and possibly whales. Wander among massive cacti at the Cactus Garden and learn about these fascinating plants. Kick back while you enjoy some time at the resort before our seaside, sunset dinner. (B,L,D) DAY 4 - Depart for our first stop, the Guaymas Pearl Farm, the first cultured pearl farm in North America. Here, learn about the pearl oyster farming, pearl grading and quality selection. Travel south through the rich grain farmland and to the foothills of the Sierra Madre Mountains, arriving in the quaint city of Alamos. This town is a living museum. The cobblestone streets are lined with beautiful Spanish Colonial Mansions. Tonight we’ll enjoy a cultural feast! (B,L,D) DAY 5 - Enjoy a guided walking tour through the cobblestone streets of Alamos. Visit some fabled mansions that have been restored to their original grandeur. Depart for El Fuerte and arrive by early afternoon. (B,L,D) DAY 6 - All aboard our train - known as the most spectacular train ride in North America. Enjoy lunch on-board and arrive at Posada Barrancas by mid afternoon. Tonight relish in a Tarahumara Indian Culture presentation. (B,L,D) DAY 7 - Today, we’ll explore the Tarahumara Indian Arts and Crafts, visit the rim of the canyon and enjoy the surroundings. We have an opportunity to board the Copper Canyon Aerial tramway that descends into the Canyon with great views. You may elect to take in some optional activities this afternoon. (B,L,D) DAY 8 - After breakfast, board our motor coach and transfer to Creel by way of Oteros Canyon. After lunch in Guerrero, descend from the mountains into the Chihuahuan Desert and the city of Nuevo Casas Grandes. Tonight enjoy a Mata Oritz pottery demonstration and have our farewell to Mexico dinner.
