Proportional: (x and y are proportional if x/y = k, where k is the scale factor.)
So, two quantities are proportional if they have a constant ratio. (In Morris's situation, the ratio of bottom length to side length was always 1/2) Counter example:
Scale Factor: Ex: Morris 2 is scaled twice as large as Morris 1, so the scale factor from Morris 1 to Morris 2 is 2. (The scale factor from Morris 2 to Morris 1 is 1/2, and the scale factor from Morris 1 to Morris 3 is 3.
Area: Perimeter: length around a shape Congruent:
Ratio of corresponding sides: In similar figures, this should be constant.
Similar figures: Two figures are similar if corresponding sides are proportional and if corresponding angles are equal.
