Romans 1:16-17
16
I am not ashamed of the gospel,
because it is the power of God for the
salvation of everyone who believes: first
for the Jew, then for the Gentile.
17
It’s Time to GROW
For in the gospel a righteousness from
God is revealed, a righteousness that is
by faith from first to last, just as it is
written: “The righteous will live by faith.”

Lesson 3 The Central Theme of the Epistle
Romans 1:16-17
Introduction
We now come to the central theme of
the book of Romans – straight to the
point, not to be missed but
emphasized
and
remembered.
Stemming from an earnest desire
and eagerness to preach the gospel
in Rome which is predominantly
Gentile (Rom 1:15), Paul cited these
words
with
conviction. The
succeeding lessons will allow us to
chew on every word and to digest
the truth of the gospel. In order that
we Christians in the 21st century will
be able to be true to our identity –
representing Jesus Christ here on
earth in a world where the gospel is
not popular and those who believe in
it are mocked and persecuted. The
gospel is the very core of what we
believe in. We need to understand,
grasp and embrace what it truly
means. It is the key to victorious
living.
