Expectations
• Each child is loaned the book from school (in a zipped
plastic wallet).
• The children will read a selected page or pages each week
aloud to an adult/older sibling (teachers will inform
children of which pages).
• They will complete the homework based on the book every
two weeks. A special book will be provided in the wallet
for this homework to be completed in.
• If your child struggles with reading, then please feel free to
read the text to them or take turns to read some each and
answer the questions together.

At school:
We will have a Reading lesson dedicated to 'The Owl who
was Afraid of the Dark.'
If your child has not completed the reading set by the
teacher at home, they may find it difficult to understand
and take part in the Reading lesson.

Support at School
Although we would like the children to read the story and
discuss it with an adult/older sibling at home, we appreciate this
is not always possible.
Therefore, you can use the Wednesday morning Year 2 parent
drop in session (8.45 - 9.00) to read with your child.
