Cause
AIDS is far from over. In fact, now there are more
people living with HIV than ever before and last year
nearly 7,000 more became infected in California alone.
The L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center and the San Francisco
AIDS Foundation develop and implement innovative programs
to prevent new infections and provide those living with HIV
access to medical care and medicine, counseling and housing.
Together we reach millions of people via outreach, advocacy,
the Internet, the California HIV/AIDS Hotline (aidshotline.org) and
California AIDS Clearinghouse. The San Francisco AIDS Foundation
and the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center rely on the funds from AIDS/LifeCycle
to continue our work.
What is AIDS/LifeCycle?
•A 545-mile, seven day bike ride from
San Francisco to Los Angeles
•Fully supported, with rest stops, route safety teams, bike tech,
medical support, catered meals, hot showers, and more
•A life-changing ride – not a race –
through some of California’s most
beautiful countryside
•A community of people from all walks of life coming together
for a common cause
•An opportunity to make a difference in the lives of thousands
living with or at risk for HIV

transporting the gear. The event would not happen without them
and we are grateful for all of their hard work and the generous
spirit with which they volunteer their time and efforts!

Courage
These stories and thousands of others – including yours –
are to be discovered on California’s scenic roads.
Anita started riding for the brother she lost
and is now a Training Ride Leader, helping
new riders prepare for the challenge.
Megan rides because she’s held a
baby born with HIV.
John, who 5 years ago had a t-cell
count of less than 100, is now riding
in his second ALC.
At 78, Tim is not only our oldest rider,
he’s also one of our top fundraisers.
Charlie, a 3rd year
Roadie, says volunteering
every year reinforces his
belief that each of us can
make a difference.
