Why double tip spark plug?
Below are studies on other spark plug with single tip Platinum and single tip Iridium
Every time a spark plug sparks, a tiny amount of metal is vaporized and lost from both electrode and leg. The
center electrode suffers the most wear from heat erosion. As the electrode wears, the spark plug gap becomes
wider and wider and needs more voltage to spark across the gap. As a result, the vehicle may lose power and
misfire.

Spark plug theory :
The spark plug is a part of the ignition that forces high voltage electricity to cross a gap. It is exposed to extreme
combustion temperature, fuels, and oils. In addition, it is also working under high cylinder pressures and
vibrations from the engine. The primary functions of spark plugs are to ignite air + fuel mixtures and to remove
heat from the combustion chamber.
Main benefit using ÜBER POWER IRIDIUM spark plug :
1. Service life is improved tremendously.
2. More responsive engine and stable, solid acceleration power.
3. More torque at low RPM.
4. Improved cold start / morning start.
5. Improved fuel economy up to 15%.
6. Reduced emissions.
7. Maintain longevity of secondary ignition parts
Service life improved tremendously
ÜBER POWER IRIDIUM spark plug technology uses Iridium alloy tip on both electrodes, because it has the
highest melting point. ÜBER POWER IRIDIUM made from 99.5% pure Iridium + 0.05% alloy impurity. OWS

More responsive engine and stable, solid acceleration power
ÜBER POWER IRIDIUM spark plug center electrode tip produces a laser beam patterned kernel. In high
compression environment the kernel of fire rapidly grows to become a plasma arc, burning more efficiently as
the fuel and air mixture produces a bigger explosion than other spark plugs. Bigger explosions mean more
power. This means solid acceleration power and a more responsive engine.
OWS ÜBER POWER IRIDIUM double tip technology
Stage 1
With this kind of double tip design, the firing
kernel may focus into the ground electrode tip
and this will produce a laser beam patterned
kernel.
Stage 2
In a high compression environment, the laser
beam kernel rapidly grows to become a plasma
arc.
Stage 3
The higher temperature plasma arc will burn air
fuel mixtures more rapidly and more efficiently.
This creates a bigger explosion. Thanks to the
tapered ground electrode design, it provides easy
access for the air and fuel mixture to become a
plasma arc.
ÜBER POWER IRIDIUM spark plug produces laser beam kernel and compare with single tip spark plug :

When you adjust spark gap, you will get kernel
size according to spark gap.
With the double tip design, a laser beam pattern
kernel and higher kernel temperature is
produced.

Kernel flame will some times spark to the left
and some times spark to the right at the ground
electrode.
When the fire split to both sides, kernel
temperature may drop.

More torque at low RPM
Most normal engines have low torque at low RPM. With ÜBER POWER IRIDIUM double tip design, a higher
temperature laser beam kernel is produced. Laser beam kernel expands to become a plasma arc, making
perfect combustion. Perfect combustion means more power. ÜBER POWER IRIDIUM spark plugs provide you
with high torque at low RPM and makes driving more pleasure.
Improved cold start / morning start
ÜBER POWER IRIDIUM spark plug technology with double tip design makes laser beam spark firing and
produces plasma arc even in winter or cold mornings. Start ups have been tested at 30̊C below zero. In some
high altitude areas where air density less, ÜBER POWER IRIDIUM spark plugs improve ignition.
Fuel economy improved up to 15%
ÜBER POWER IRIDIUM spark plugs have been tested for improved fuel economy. In some cases, it was
improved up to 15%. We call it the smart plug because it will give you returns on your investments every month.
In example case below :

Spark plugs cost him
about total US$ 79.80
for 4 pcs spark plugs.
After use OWS IRIDIUM
His car consumes 2,500 gallons
His car consumes 2,272 gallons
= US$ 4,750
= US$ 4,316.80
He saves US$ 433.20 annually
* Money back guarantee if your car fuel economy is not improved.
Reduced emissions
ÜBER POWER IRIDIUM spark plug with double tip technology produces laser beam spark firing and creates a
higher temperature plasma arc spark kernel. With a higher temperature plasma arc spark kernel, the engine
burns the air and fuel mixtures more efficiently.
OWS is aware of stricter EURO IV emissions standards which will be applied on 1 January 2006.

Maintain longevity secondary ignition parts & catalytic converter
Secondary ignition parts are :
1. Spark plug cap.
2. Spark plug cable.
3. Ignition coil.
OWS ÜBER POWER IRIDIUM spark plug requires lower voltage. The lowest voltage required for ignition will
allow the coil to work in a more efficient manner. The efficiency of the ignition coil reduces strain on the spark
plug cable and spark plug cap.
Maintain longevity catalytic converter
Most modern cars are equipped with a catalytic converter.
Catalytic converters help to reduce NOx, reduce unburned hydrocarbons and reduce carbon monoxide. OWS
ÜBER POWER IRIDIUM spark plugs help engines to burn mixtures of air and fuel more efficiently and minimize
stress to the catalytic converter.

ÜBER POWER IRIDIUM
ÜBER POWER IRIDIUM spark plug heat range
ÜBER POWER IRIDIUM spark plug heat range is designed according to spark plug tip and insulator nose
operating temperature. ÜBER POWER IRIDIUM spark plug center temperature is fixed at 600̊C, therefore we
call it no. 6 heat range.
Spark plug’s location means exposure to extreme combustion temperature. Spark plug heat range is measured
by the spark plug tip and insulator nose’s ability to remove heat from combustion chamber. It is determined by
several factors, spark plug tip (and length) and insulator nose construction (and length) since they are the
hottest parts of spark plug.
It is important to choose the correct heat range in order to maintain spark plug tip & insulator nose temperature
between ranges 450̊C to 850̊C. At operating temperature from 450̊C to 850̊C, spark plug insulator nose and tip
has the ability to burn off carbon deposits so we call it "self cleaning temperature".
If temperature exceeds 850̊C, it may cause the spark plug nose tip to over heat and spark plug electrode may
begin to melt. In the case of Iridium tips, the tip will not melt but heat removing process is too slow. The spark
plug nose and tip temperature still remain high, and this condition may lead to pre ignition / pre detonation and
will cause engine damage.
If temperature is below 450̊C, the insulator nose and spark plug tip will not become hot enough to deter fouling
and carbon deposits. This condition will cause spark plug misfire.
The illustration below explains the operating temperature for hot spark plugs and cold spark plugs.

Corona Stain
If your vehicle begins to lose power, there is possibility that your spark plugs are leaking. Try to unplug one of
the spark plugs and check whether you can spot a corona stain. Corona stain is discoloration surrounding the
insulator near the spark plug shell, and can be caused by :
1.
Spark plug leak
Spark plug receives great pressure from the combustion chamber. As shown
on the illustration below, the spark plug shield has a very important job in
holding in the pressure. If the shield is no longer able to block the pressures,
the hot pressurized mixture of combustion gas will leak through the top of the
spark plug shell.
Solution : Change for a new spark plug.
2.
Dirt on ceramic body
Electricity discharges from the terminal nut, through the insulator and then
into the spark plug shell. The electrical discharge can be foiled by oil or a dirt
particle inside the spark plug cap or on the insulator body. The place
between the terminal nut and the spark shell is a highly electric field. Spark
plugs have an insulator barrier designed to protect electrical leakage from
the terminal nut. In some conditions, the electric discharge is too high and the
insulator barrier is no longer able to retain the electrical leakage.
Solution :
1. For new spark plug installation, always check and clean spark plug
insulator body before installation.
2. Check spark plug cap condition and clean the hole during installation of
new spark plug. Check spark plug cap condition and clean periodically
every 10,000 km.

Tips adjusting spark gap and engine tuning
Adjusting and tips for spark gap
Always check and adjust the spark plug gap according to engine specifications, this
ensures that you will get maximum and best spark energy, longevity of secondary ignition
1.
components such as coils, spark plug cap, spark plug wire, rotor and also the best
possible, lowest radio frequency interference (RFI) and lowest emissions.
Always re-gap with the smaller gap first then open spark plug gap by increment 0.05 mm at
2. a time, and diagnose until the vehicle begins to lose power, then re-gap a narrow 0.03 mm
to 0.05 mm.
Never re gap more than ± 0.30 mm, this is to maintain parallel and vertical geometrical
3.
surfaces between ground and center electrode of the spark plug.
Turbochargers
Turbochargers use the exhaust flow / stream from the engine to spin an air pump turbine. The
spinning speeds can reach up to 15,000 rotations per minute (RPM). It compresses air flowing
into the combustion chamber. More air means that more fuel can be added, and allow the
engine to burn more fuel and air in the cylinder. The typical boost improved around 6 to 8 psi (35
to 45% more power). Normally, turbochargers are equipped with or come with an intercooler for
cooling the compressed air. In high altitude areas, where the air density is lower, turbochargers
improve the engine performance compared to normal engines which will experience reduced
power.
Superchargers
The principal of the Supercharger is same as the Turbocharger. Turbochargers use the exhaust
stream to drive. But Superchargers use a belt that connects to the engine.
Tips for Turbochargers and Supercharger engines :
1. Always use proper heat number and proper gap.
2. Check spark plug wire tightening regularly.
3. Check spark plug tightening every 5,000 km.
Nitrous Oxide (N2O) booster
By injecting Nitrous Oxide into the combustion, the heat from the combustion room will split
Nitrous Oxide into Nitrogen and Oxygen (N2O will split to be Nitrogen and Oxygen at ± 300̊ C).
The more Oxygen there is available for combustion and allows for more fuel to be injected. The
good effect of Nitrous Oxide is that when it vaporizes, it will provide a significant cooling on
intake air. The cooler intake air temperature will increase air density and provide more oxygen
for combustion chamber.
Tips for using Nitrous Oxide booster :
1. Always use proper heat number and proper gap.
2. Check spark plug wire tightening regularly.
3. Check spark plug tightening regularly.
Advance Timing 10°
Advance timing may increases 80 to 100° C spark plug tip operating temperature, therefore is
suggested to use 1 (one) number colder heat range.
Tips for advance timing modification :
1. Use one heat range colder spark plugs.
2. Lower spark gap 0.05 mm may get better result.
3. Check spark plug tightening every 5,000 km.
