First Data (FD) Mobile Pay FAQs – ISO Channel

First Data (FD) Mobile Pay
FAQs – ISO Channel
(1) Why would a merchant need the First Data Mobile Pay (FDMP) solution?
In your business, the point of sale is an ever-moving destination – wherever your customers are,
that’s where you’ll go – which means you need a payment solution that’s as mobile as you are.
However, your on-the-road transaction volume might not justify the added expense of purchasing
mobile payment terminals. Instead, you may be completing sales in a more casual manner—writing
down credit card information to call in later. These payment methods can expose you and your
customers to unnecessary risk, as well as take away from your professional image.
(2) How will the merchant know if my device is supported?
Today Android phones & tablet and iPhones/iPads are supported. The iPhone and iPad versions are
listed below.
Merchant must have one of the following existing smart phone devices (with a data plan):
®
 Android (various models)
®
 Android Tablet
®
 iPhone (3G, 3GS, 4, 4S, 5)
®
 iPad
(all versions)
(3) Are there any plans for the FDMP to support Windows OS &/or BlackBerry devices?
Currently, no, there are no plans for the FDMP to support Windows OS &/or BlackBerry devices due
to not enough market demand. If Product notices an increase in demand for Windows OS &/or
BlackBerry they’ll look to consider supporting them.
(4) What MSR is compatible with FDMP?
FD only certified the Rambler by Anywhere Commerce & it must be encrypted by TASQ (part # NRAM20AC). If the merchant uses a MRS that is not the one FD certified then there is no liability if &
when it will stop working & the merchant would have no chargeback protections, etc.
(5) Is the FDMP Rambler MSR EMV capable?
No, the FDMP Rambler MSR is not EMV capable. EMV is the roadmap towards the end of 2013 (no
specific ETA yet); Product is evaluating different options (note, another peripheral will be used to
support EMV).
(6) Is there a web-base, virtual terminal for FDMP?
Unfortunately, Product made a decision not to rollout the web-based FDMP (no card reader plug-in
device required; the merchant would process a transaction on a cardholder’s account via the First
Data Mobile Pay URL) to the ISO / Client Channel.
The reason for this decision was because the web-based version only supports key-entered
transactions, which is not the direction Product wanted to move forward with.
(7) What if the merchant needs updates to their solution while in the field?
TM
The First Data Mobile Pay solution is updated through each respective app store (Android’s App
®
®
Marketplace, iPhone’s iTunes App Store). Downloading the update can be done anywhere the
merchant has a carrier signal.

(8) What platform(s) is FDMP certified to?
The FDMP is available on Omaha & Nashville frontend platforms for Omaha backend clients. FDMP
is tentatively scheduled to rollout for North backend clients sometime this year.
(9) What type of authorization fee is assessed with FDMP through Apriva?
Per Finance, Apriva auths currently come in as Dial auths. Dial Authorizations would be Billing
Elements 3502, 3503, 3504, 300, 335, 1101 & 319 for Omaha, Nashville & Buypass (although Buypass
is irrelevant here as the FDMP is only available on Omaha & Nashville).
(10) What Billing Elements are associated with FDMP?
The following Billing Elements are for FDMP:
Billing Element
Definition
5889 - FDMP MONTHLY FEE
Monthly fee charged for merchant account set up with First
Data Mobile Pay.
5890 - FDMP TRANSACTION FEE
Fee charged to merchant per transaction run on/through FD
Mobile product.
(11) When should a client use FDMP vs. AprivaPay?
AprivaPay was a Class B solution available to the ISO / Client Channel until the FDMP Class A
solution was introduced in November 2012. Since the rollout of FDMP, AprivaPay should no longer
be available for new sales. Existing merchants already setup on AprivaPay can continue to process,
but a client can certainly cancel the merchant’s existing AprivaPay to setup a new FDMP if
desired. The FDMP is available on an Android or an iPhone / iPad.
(12) What is the setup process for FDMP for a client that has a direct relationship with Apriva?
An ISO / FSP cannot go directly to Apriva for FD Mobile Pay – they must go through FD. If the
ISO/FSP has a direct relationship with Apriva then they could go directly to Apriva & use AprivaPay
(Class B product), but not FDMP. Apriva would need to advise the setup process for AprivaPay.
(13) Is FDMP PCI Compliant?
There is no PCI compliance (or PA-DSS) for mobile devices as of yet. FDMP meets the
recommended requirements that the PCI Council suggests for a mobile device, but there’s no
certificate for that. The PCI Council actually rejects mobile devices that try for certification.
(14) What industries does FDMP support?
FDMP currently only supports a Retail industry; the other industries listed below are not available.

(15) Does FDMP support tips?
Yes, FDMP does support tips; however, it needs to be entered at the time of the transaction as tip
adjustment is not supported. Below is a screen shot of sale transaction from the demo where the tip
amount can be entered is highlighted.
(16) Can FDMP be used internationally? Does FDMP support foreign currency or Dynamic Currency Conversion
(DCC)?
FDMP is not designed to be used internationally and cannot process in foreign currency nor is DCC
available.
It should be noted that currently FD cannot prevent a merchant from taking their cell phone across
the border and using it to run transactions. This is true for FDMP & FD mobile terminals. Since the
merchant is using a cellular connection, if they have a connection, they could technically use it
across the border and the transaction would still go to their normal account and be processed as US
dollars. FD is looking at coming up with a policy on this. The process is known as Geo-Fencing
where FD would restrict the ability of processing transactions outside a specified area. Product
expects that this will be in place later this year for all mobile products. Product is currently working
to implement this policy / process for FDMP, but there’s no ETA on when it’ll be released.
(17) Does FDMP allow auto-close to be enabled?
There is no auto-close within application. A merchant must manually close, however, if the merchant
does not manually close their batch then the host will automatically close the batch at 1am EST
nightly (Apriva controls this 1am EST close so it applicable to both Nashville & Omaha frontends).
Note: The settlement time can be adjusted in the Apriva BackOffice.
(18) How many users does FDMP support?
With the next app. release, FDMP now supports up to 10 devices using the same username / login.
(19) What is the batch capacity with FDMP?
The maximum number of transactions FDMP can hold within a single batch is 999 (this is a limitation
of the Nashville & Omaha hosts not FDMP). Note, if the merchant processes the next transaction
(#1000), FDMP will process it, however, it’ll be included in next, second, batch.

(20) Are there compatible printers for FDMP?
Unfortunately, no, there are no compatible printers with FDMP.
(21) Can a user regenerate a customer receipt after the transaction has been completed & they’ve moved
forward in the app.?
Currently, no, there is not a way to reprint the customer’s receipt once the transaction is
completed. With the next app. release, this issue will be fixed as there will be a transaction history
that will allow the merchant retrieve data for the past 60 days within the app. & they can resend a
receipt. Also, if the merchant has emailed themselves a copy of the receipt then they’d be able to
forward it the customer.
(22) Does the app. support a confirmation notification (email / text) that the receipt was successfully sent to the
customer?
Currently, no, the app. does not support a confirmation notification that the receipt was emailed
successfully. Product has not seen a demand for this. If there is sufficient demand they’ll look to
potentially implement.
(23) What type of reporting is available?
Currently, FDMP has the capability to email an e-receipt at time of processing to the
cardholder. With the next app. release an SMS / text receipt can be sent to the cardholder at the
time of processing. Also in this new version of the app. there is a feature that enables a merchant to
email themselves a receipt directly for their records.
In regards to reporting for the merchant, currently the FDMP application itself does not provide batch
reporting. Product will be adding some reporting to the app. in 2013 (no exact date has been
established). The reports would be simple, i.e. a list of the merchant’s last five batches, key data the
merchant can reference without having to login elsewhere. With the next app. release a merchant
can now complete a transaction history search for the past 90 days.
Currently, Apriva BackOffice does offer batch reporting, last five batchers, tips and other
breakdowns to the merchant. Nothing is emailed from Apriva to the merchant, they’d have to
login. The merchant would also be able to view batch reporting via eMerchantView, Portfolio
Manager, ClientLine, etc.
(24) How does the merchant enroll in the Apriva BackOffice reporting?
The user who receives the welcome letter will be provided a username and then will need to reset the
temporary password with a unique one. See example below.

(25) On the emailed &/or SMS / text receipts, the client’s logo or the merchant’s logo be added?
This is a possible enhancement in the future as Apriva is currently investigating if this possible.
(26) How does a merchant retrieve transaction information to respond to a retrieval or chargeback?
Unfortunately, the FDMP application itself does not provide batch reporting. Product will be adding
some reporting to the app. in 2013 (no exact date has been established). The reports would be
simple, i.e. a list of the merchant’s last five batches, key data the merchant can reference without
having to login elsewhere.
With the next app. release a merchant can now complete a transaction history search for the past 90
days. If the transaction is within this timeframe, the merchant could obtain it from within the
app. Also in this new version of the app. there is a feature that enables a merchant to email
themselves a receipt directly for their records, which then they could easily locate the emailed
receipt and fulfill the chargeback.
Currently, Apriva BackOffice does offer batch reporting, last five batches, tips and other breakdowns
to the merchant. Nothing is emailed from Apriva to the merchant, they’d have to login. The
merchant would also be able to view batch reporting via ClientLine or any other applicable merchant
tool. The merchant would obtain the transaction detail from either the Apriva BackOffice or their
applicable merchant tool.

(29) Is there a demo available?
Product is working on a demo video that will be posted to an external site, more than likely

version is launched.
