We are already looking towards next year and with that in mind we would like to inform you of our exciting news - Moorgate is expanding further! As we are a DFE coaching school for our 2 Year Old Provision (Mini Moorgate), we have been given the ‘green light’ to expand our current facility. In addition to this we have been approached by the Local Authority to accommodate an extra class for our Reception intake 2016/2017. This additional intake has implications for extending the current building layout and we are presently in talks with Corporate Property Services and architects who will guide us through the process. I hope you will join me in wishing her well for the future. We would like to welcome three new members of staff to Moorgate from September. Miss R Bateman will be our Year 3B class teacher, Miss Rebecca Lee will be our new Nursery teacher, and Mrs D Lewis will be our new administration assistant. Mrs D Clare is looking forward to a new opportunity of teaching in Key Stage 2 and will be our new Year 3C class teacher. Name the Hippo Winner! We are pleased to announce that our Hippo now has a name. There were lots of great suggestions put forward from the children. It was a difficult choice to make but the winning name, chosen by Mrs Hopwood is:- ‘Sparkles’ (Chloe Mintram - Year 2M) The prize will be a trip to the cinema with Mrs Hopwood to see the film, ‘The Secret Life of Pets’. We are pleased to announce that the winners of our class attendance awards are as follows:- Year 5 - 99.31% (Week ending 10th June 2016) The whole school percentage for the same week was:- 97.09% Year 6 - 99.33% (Week ending 27th May 2016) Baby News We have some lovely news to report. Mrs Beach, one of our Year 6 teachers is expecting her second baby in November. Her maternity leave will commence in the Autumn Term. No Smoking The whole school percentage for the same week was:- 96.60% Please note that smoking is not permitted on school grounds. This includes e-cigarettes. These figures exceed our school target of 95.30% Well done! Thank you for your co-operation. Weekly Themes - Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural (SMSC) & British Values Our theme last week was about ‘Change’. We explored how we can adapt to and accept change. Our Multi Cultural theme was about Ramadan which is a holy month when all Muslims fast. This week our theme has been about ‘Choices’. We have been talking to the children about making good choices and avoiding temptation. We have also had an assembly about this theme.
