Free Ancestry.com use may only be accessed through computers in the public library.
1. Visit www.galileo.usg.edu
2. Click the green “Databases A-Z” tab.

3. Click “A” or type in “Ancestry” in the search box.
4. Scroll to the Ancestry Library Edition link and click it.
Using Ancestry.com
Accessing & Using Census, Immigration, Birth, Military, Marriage, & Death Records
Using Advanced Search is a direct link to accessing ALL records available about a person .
Step 1: Provide information in the Advanced Search fields
including name, location, and any known dates.
Step 2: Skim the results to locate your
relative. IMPORTANT: Check the dates
& areas of the record! When you find
what you are seeking, click the link.
Step 3: Compare the record with
The ‘printer-friendly’ version
will print a ‘clean’ version of
the information to the right. →

Helpful Hints
Start with what you know. Interview your family members for information, including names,
dates (birth, death, & marriage), places they lived, and locations of buried ancestors.
Family Bibles, old documents, and diaries can contain useful information.


Locate the light green bar at the top of the
screen. Click the “Charts and Forms” link.
On the following page, you can download
and print a genealogical chart, family
group sheet, and more forms.

