602. Instrument of resignation narrating that Jonet Steuart, daughter of John Steuart of
Cragihall, resigned in her father' s hands the lands of Cragihall, with the tower, orchards,
gardens, corn mills and fullers' mills pertaining thereto, excepting the lands of Upcragy
with the lands called Westfeildis from the north meadow as the "sike" crosses towards the
west from the rocks to the marches of the lands of Dolphinton, renouncing all right which
she had in the said lands by reason of the gift thereof in liferent made to her by the said
John Steuart with consent of Margaret, his spouse. Done at the chief messuage of the said
lands of Cragihall, 19 Apr 1493. Witnesses: Edward Mowbray, Henry Preston, Nicholas

1245. 02 Jun 1502. William Forstare, indweller in the town of Leith, as bailie of
Alexander Craumond of that ilk, gave sasine to Philip Forstare, burgess of
Edinburgh, of an annualrent of forty, shillings from the said Alexander' s lands
of Craumond Regis. Witnesses: James Logane, sheriff depute of Edinburgh,
Alexander Stewart, son of the laird of Cragyhall, Sir John Howisone, chaplain,
Philip Mowbray, Thomas Barcare, Alexander Howisone, George Roul, George
Gray, Thomas Fiff and John Gray. 10th. 31r.
1317. 06 Jul 1503. Walter Cant, son and heir apparent of Henry Cant, burgess of
Edinburgh, confessed that he had been forewarned by Andrew Elphinstone of
Selmis to receive £80 for the redemption of the six merklands of Selmis called
Grymiswallis, in the barony of Caldorclere and sheriffdom of Edinburgh,
alienated by the deceased Laurence Elphinstone of Selmys, father of Andrew,
to the deceased Adam Cant, grandfather of the said Walter. Walter received
the money, discharged Andrew thereof, and resigned the lands. Done in
Andrew Elphinstoun' s dwelling

1343. 07 Oct 1503. Sir David Mowbray of Bernbowgale forewarned Andrew Twedy,
as assignee of Jonet Houstoun, spouse of the deceased William Moubray,
burgess of Edinburgh, to compear at the altar of St. James the Apostle in the
collegiate church of St. Giles on the Thursday next before Martinmas to
receive a sum of money for the redemption of a tack of the lands of Toftis of
Manys of Bernbowgale, which Patrick Bathcat formerly occupied, with
thirteen acres of the said Manys lying next to the said Toftis, on the east side
thereof, in the barony of Dummanyne, set by the said Sir David and Elizabeth,
his spouse, to the said William and Jonet. Done in the notary' s dwelling
-house
in Canongate. Witnesses: friar Thomas Lowis, minister of the house of the
Trinitarian friars of Peblis, Adam Peblis of Crukstoun, Andrew Patersone,
