Papelote is a Czech brand of stationery where
paper is not a mere base for writing, but a material
full of flavour, fragrance, sound and colour.
Papelote offers a wide range of original notebooks,
sketchbooks, textile book covers, felt cases and
much more – all designed and made in the Czech
Republic from environmentally friendly materials.
Papelote’s home is in “the heart of Europe” – Prague, where it opened
its first shop and workshop in 2010. Here, one will find the full range of
papelote products including limited edition series.
The story of papelote originated as the graduate work of graphic
designer, Katerina Sachova – the designer of all papelote collections.
Papelote did not stay behind the school walls, however, it grew by other
members who joined their talents and gave it real life. In addition to the
shop in Prague, papelote has a stable distribution network in the Czech
Republic and it can also be found in an increasing number of countries
across the world. In 2012 the Academy of Czech Grand Design awarded
papelote first prize in the category Shop of the Year for its collections
Elemento, Fabrico and Musko. At the 9th European Design Awards
ceremony in 2015 papelote was also awarded a bronze medal for the
correspondence collection carta in the category Self-Initiated Projects.
Papelote’s goal is to revive the forgotten beauty of stationery and paper
and to show the importance of the role that paper plays in our culture,
history and the present. We believe that the physical essence of paper is
something that cannot be replaced by digital technology, and that paper
was, is and always will be one of the most important materials in our
daily lives.
In essence, papelote is the body and soul of paper.

When designing our products we put great emphasis on aesthetical
value, quality of production and functionality. Equally important for us
is the choice of materials. All of our products are made from recycled or
environmentally friendly materials and in the Czech Republic.
Our products can be practically unlimitedly combined and modified
with different choices of colours and various technologies – screen print,
blind embossing and coloured embossing. It is possible to choose from
our existing products (included in this catalogue) and modify them
accordingly, or we can design completely original, tailor made solutions
according to our clients’ needs and wishes.
We honour the expression “simple is beauty”. In designing custom made
products we try to express the essence of the company or institution
through the product itself – choosing the right colour, material and
overall character. The result is much more than just a visual image –
it expresses your spirit. Even an ordinary notebook can say a lot about
