at2pm,3pmand4pmattheCadellOvalandat3.00p.m.aCelebrityPizza
BakeoffwilltakeplaceincludingMayorDaveBurgessoftheMidMurrayCouncil
andAdrianPederickMP,MemberforHammond.
MayorDaveBurgesswilltakeonthechallengeandislookingforwardtoplacing
hissecretingredientsonthepumpkinpizza,“Althoughmyopponentshavenot
beenrevealed,Iamworkingonarecipethatwilltakeouttheprizeandreflect
someoftheexceptionalproducefromourregion”.
“The worldwide challenge is on for Cadell to move the giant pumpkin title to
Australia and now that another competition is underway at the event with the
‘best pumpkin pizza’, who knows another worldwide record may be in the
making”.
Giantpumpkinsaroundtheworldjustkeepgettingbiggerandyetanother
growerhastakenouttheworldrecordcrownwithhispumpkinweighinginat
anamazing2624.6poundsattheGiantPumpkinEuropeanChampionshipin
Ludwigsburg,GermanyinOctoberlastyear.
BelgiummanMathiasWillemijnsexceededthepreviousworldrecordpumpkin
by300poundsatthesameeventbackin2014.
It’stimetoplanttohaveyourchancefortheultimateprizeofatriptotheUnited
StatesfortheheaviestpumpkinatCadell’sMurrayRiverGiantPumpkin
CompetitionproudlysponsoredbyMGAInsuranceBrokers.
“Manygrowerssourcetheirownseedsbutweliketogiveeveryoneachanceto
seetheseamazinggiantstakeshapeintheirbackyards”,saidDannyMcGurgan,
ChairmanoftheCadellCommunityandTouristAssociation.
Cadell’sMurrayRiverGiantPumpkinCompetitionisnowinit’sfifthyearand
EasterSaturday’sjudgingwillalwaysbringsomenewsurprises.

thepast5yearsandisafantasticdayoutwiththewholefamilyandthemassive

Forthepast27years,familiesandvisitorshavemadetheirwaytoCadellforthe
HarvestFestivalsaidJasonLukacs,ChairmanoftheCadellCommunityand
TourismAssociation.
