Stunning Start
We will be rocking our way to the
local rocks, Toad, Happy Valley and
Bulls Hollow on Wednesday 11th Jan.
Make sure you have sturdy footwear!
Our key texts this term (The Pebble
in my Pocket and Hot like Fire) will
help us in learning about non fiction
books and poetry , Ready to rock!
We will continue to have daily spelling
and reading slots.
We’ll be looking at the concept of Trust in
RE and also the meaning and importance
of Easter to Christians.
We are Communicators and Opinion
Pollsters in the ICT suite this term. We’ll
also continue to brushing up on our
computer skills.
Marvellous Middle
We will be making fossils at school on
Wednesday 1st March. Please make sure
your child has an old shirt to wear – it
could get messy!
How did volcanoes form? Can we make an explosive
model of a volcano? Can a structure be made to
withstand an earthquake? In D and T we will
discover if our structural engineers can do it!
Where are volcanoes found? How are they
formed? How have they shaped the world?
What is an earthquake? How do people live
near to earthquake zones?
These are some of the questions we will be
aiming to answer as we investigate the geology
of the planet.
Science: We will be learning about
the structure formation and
composition of difference rocks
Year 4 will continue with our swimming this term
(we’re making great progress)
Year 3 work on their gymnastics and basketball skills

Our budding curators will be creating a science
museum in school. Come and see the old fossils ( not
just Mr Norris!)
Book Bags
Please ensure books and yellow
reading records are in school
every day.
Please sign your child’s reading
record book when you have heard
them read and don’t forget to say
how many minutes they have
read for, to add to their reading
miles.
PE
PE days are Wednesdays and
Fridays. (Year 4 will swim on
Fridays from the second week.)
Please have full PE kit in school at
all times in case these days need to
change.
Children may wear blue jogging
bottoms and sweatshirts for colder
weather.
Homework
This is being set slightly
differently this year, following a
trial in Exeter last year. Please
see the separate sheet.
Water Bottles
Please remember your child will
need to bring their own water
bottle this year.
