The Solo and Small firm multi-day conference at the WSBA on July 22 & 23 was a

(focusing on ethics updates) will replace two ethics programs in 2017. ALPs program will
possibly be rebroadcasted.
WSBA CLE is currently $78K ahead of budget. Still gauging impact of APR11, whereby
CLE programming does not require in-person attendance.
4. Budget Review for FY16
Projecting $120K loss in 2016 due to removal of live seminar requirement, and > $150K
in net profit from CLEP recorded products. Salary savings realized from staff changes
and conversions. Anticipate a break even budget for FY16.
5. Review of FY16 CLE Committee Annual Report
Kevin Plachy presented the CLE Committee’s 2016 annual report.
6. Update on Budget/Programming Plan for 2017
ACTION: Kevin will look into what diversity exists among section committee leaders and
report back to the CLE Committee.
CLES AND CLEP will have a combined budget for 2017.
Readmission will become a regular CLE starting in 2017 and will be conducted
once/year not twice.
Goal to get more systematic about marketing WSBA’s CLE improvements in the NW
Lawyer. ACTION: Kevin will send a list of accomplishments to the committee chairs.
Committee chairs will write an article about these accomplishments and submit it to the
October NW Lawyer.
Budget goal is not to create a profit but to create a break even budget and not use the
general fund.
Goal in 2017 is to create 5.5 days of WSBA Presents programming and ten, one day
_________?
7. Discussion of FY17 Committee Appointments
Craig Sternberg will chair the CLE Committee in FY17.
8. Discussion of FY17 Committee Business (Workgroups, Sub-Committees?)
In FY17 two new workgroups will be created from the CLE Committee. One will be for
program development, and 4-5 members from the committee will work with WSBA’s CLE
program lead Shanthi Raghu in identifying those programs. The other workgroup will be
marketing comparison which will research other CLE providers to compare costs and
programming with WSBA’s programs. ACTION: Craig Sternberg will email the

committee to recruit participants for the workgroups. ACTION: Kevin will set up formal
workgroups by the next committee meeting in October. Whether a third workgroup
(potentially for operations) is set up is TBD.
