Congratulations you have been invited to nominate to participate in the 16yrs & under Netball Development
Camp as part of the Alice Springs Region. Final participant selection will be completed on May 1st and your
nomination form must be completed and submitted to Alice Springs Region School Sport Coordinator
([email protected]) by April 28th to be eligible for selection.
Alice Springs Region will be sending 6 students to the 16yrs & under Netball Development Camp.
If more than 6 students nominate there will be a selection trial at a date to be advised to chose final participants.
All final participants will receive information regarding travel, accommodation and timings on May 26th 2017.
The Levy for this event is $600.

Selection Criteria
The following criteria was applied in selecting players for the Squad. All squad members have met all of the ‘General’
selection criteria and demonstrated a number of the skills listed in the ‘Game Specific’ section.
General:

Must be enrolled in the system and regularly attend school

Participate in/attend the advertised selection process/event for that sport

Show athletic ability and an appropriate level of physical and mental fitness

Display appropriate skill level for the particular sport

Demonstrate an ability to ‘read’ play

Demonstrate a versatility and ability to play a variety of positions both on and off the playing arena

Demonstrate respectful attitude to others and be a good ambassador for self and those you represent

Be receptive to coaching with appropriate listening and following directions

Display a willingness to get along with all team members and officials and have a strong team ethic

Demonstrates a commitment to the sport and a willingness to have fun

All selections will be limited to the number of students allowed per team, ages 10 to 12 in the year of competition
and age dispensation and ratio where applicable.

Demonstrates good court sense, positive team contribution and sportsmanship


The components of the camp will include quality coaching, skill development, professional
development and support from Netball Mentors. The levy covers costs of travel, medical,
catering, accommodation including meals, snacks, transfers, insurance and administration. The
levy is calculated for each Region and is equalized to give the best value possible for each
student. The levy for 2017 has increased from previous years to ensure School Sport NT meets
all event costs.

Forms
The following forms and agreements must be completed by parents and students. Students must get their school
Principal’s signature on the permission slip. All forms to be emailed to School Sport NT by the due date.
No late entries will be accepted.
At close of nomination monetary commitments are made and we are unable to offer any refunds for
withdrawals.
Training
Once you have received notification that you are a participant at the camp, please continue your own training regime
to be in optimum shape at the camp.
Uniform
Students will need to wear appropriate Netball training gear.
Selected participants will be given a final information sheet of what to bring to the event.
An Alice Springs Region polo shirt is available for an additional $40—please advise Tahlia if you wish to purchase
this.
Accommodation
Travelling students can find private accommodation options or students will be allocated a host family by School
Sport NT for the duration of the event.
All meals will be provided.
Team Travel
When competing away from home, all team members and officials must travel together to the School Sport NT
Championship. Travel will be coordinated by School Sport NT. Travel details will be sent 3 weeks prior to the
event.
School Sport NT does not carry any individual travel insurance and airfares are not refundable or transferable.
Parents/Carers are advised to source their own insurance.
School Sport NT Interstate Squad Selection
An interstate squad consisting of 12 team members and 6 reserve members will be announced on Sunday at the
Closing Ceremony. The School Sport NT 15yrs & under Netball team will participate at the School Sport Australia
15yrs and under Netball Championship as a part of the Pacific School Games in Adelaide November 29th to
December 11th (including a 2 day training camp prior to the event).
The expected levy for the interstate trip will be $3200.
Levy— Total Due is $600.00
Nominations are not accepted until full payment is received. Your nomination will be confirmed or not at least 3
weeks prior to the event. If your nomination is unsuccessful a full refund will be made prior to the event. Refunds
are via direct debit only.

PLAYER AGREEMENT
I acknowledge the conditions set out below under which I nominating for the 16yrs & under Netball
Development Camp in 2017.
I agree to the following:

I understand that I will be playing under the Alice Springs Region name and colours and that I will be expected to
act at all times as a responsible member of the team.

I agree to meet and follow the direction of my team officials, which includes attending trainings, meetings,
functions, individual programs and participation in all team communications.

I have received and read a copy of the Codes of Behaviours included and agree to abide by all conditions.

I agree to participate in whatever role given to me by the Team Officials.

I agree to wear the full uniform at all matches, official team functions and when asked to by the Team Officials.

I agree to behave appropriately at practice, travelling to and from matches, during the event and when in care of
Team Officials and Host Families.

I will report any problems with my billet to the Team Official immediately.

I understand that if I fail to comply with any or all conditions, my selection or opportunity to compete or my
continuing with the team may be revoked at both the regional and NT level at the absolute discretion of my team
officials and School Sport NT.
PARENT/CARER AGREEMENT
I accept the conditions outlined upon which my child is nominating for the 16yrs & under Netball
Development Camp in 2017.
In addition I agree to the following:

I have completed all required paperwork and lodged it with the Team Manager. I understand its
implications.

Once my child has been selected as a team member, any withdrawal from the event will incur a loss of monies
paid as determined by booking fees and charges paid.

I understand that, should my child require medical treatment, I am liable for the cost of such treatment.

I agree to pay the appropriate levy when due and understand my child will not travel with the team until the full
levy is paid.

I will make all efforts to ensure that my child attends all practices, matches and other required activities with the
team.
If attendance is not possible, I will notify a team official.

If School Sport NT decides it is necessary that my child be sent home because of his/her misconduct, then I
agree to pay all reasonable extra expenses that this may occur.

I will treat team officials with respect and will encourage my child to do the same.
