5 vs 5 Indoor Gym Soccer Rules

























Teams will consist of 4 field players and 1 goalie
Need a minimum of 3 total players to play
Up to 10 players can dress for a game
In HPER North we will play the black lines and the goalie box will be 4 yard long (red line) by the
whole field wide
In HPER West we will play the green lines and the goalie box will be 5 yard long (green line) by
the whole field wide
Kick-offs may move forward or backward. The defending team must remain outside of the
center circle until the ball is kicked.
A goal may not be scored directly off a kick-off.
There is no offside rule.
Goals must be scored from the scoring team’s attacking half.
Goalie may not throw the ball past half unless it touches the ground first or another player
before crossing half.
Goalie may not drop kick the ball.
o If he/she does then the first one will be a warning and a corner kick will be awarded to
the opposite team.
o If this happens a second time then a penalty kick will be awarded and a yellow card
issued to the goalie.
Play will restart with a kick-in if the ball leaves the field over a sideline.
Play will restart with a corner kick if the defending team touches the ball over the end line.
Play is to be restarted from the end line if the attacking team touches the ball over the end line.
After a foul or an offense, play will be restarted with either an indirect or a direct free kick
depending on the offense committed (FIFA rules apply).
For direct and indirect free kicks, as well as corner kicks, the defending team must keep a
distance of 5 yards from the ball until it is kicked.
If a player intentionally stands closer than 5 yards to the ball in order to delay the game, the
player can be cautioned.
If an offense that merits a direct free kick is committed by a defending player inside the penalty
box, a penalty kick will be rewarded to the attacking team.
Penalty kicks in North will be taken from 6 yards out and player can dribble then shoot.
Penalty kicks in west will be taken from 7 yards out and player can dribble and shoot.
All players besides the shooter and the goalie must remain behind half until the ball is touched.
Once ball is touched all player can go defend or help attack.
Substitutions will be made on any dead ball except for free kicks. However, the substitute must
be made at half. The substitute may not enter the field until the other player has left.
If a rule is not covered in this list, FIFA rules apply.
Game time is forfeit time.
Mercy rule will be 16 goal differential at any point in the second half or 8 in the last 2 minutes.
