ICMICA Newsletter No 14 – October 2010 Welcome. Welcome to our latest European Newsletter which is based on information available after the Cluj symposium and the International Council meeting. Comments and contributions for the Newsletter are most welcome to [email protected] EUROPE Romania The European Section of the Gender Equality and Women’s Vision Secretariat organised its second symposium in Cluj, Romania in early July on The Phenomenon of Migration as a Female Matter. The focus was on women’s participation in migration and five speakers, four of them female, presented their special expertise and involved the audience in discussion afterwards. There were specific introductions to some individual fields concerning the “donor country” of Romania as well as presentations of more general topics in relation with the media, remigration and the religious aspect. The participants came from various European countries and, of course, from the host country Romania. All of them, together with the speakers soon felt they shared a lot of common interests and experienced a very special atmosphere of caring and companionship. More detailed documentation will be available in September on the website of Pax Romana also from [email protected] Council of Europe The roles of the Council of Europe and of the European Union are often confused.
