What Assignments that are Due in Google Classroom: ​. You can check in their Google
classroom account: Fourth Grade Rats Novel Study Folder: Chapter 4 & 5 are due.
Social Folder: Where is Alberta? Students use the video recorder app and then download the
video into Google classroom. Assignment is due
Leadership​:​Teams are posted on Google Classroom: leadership folder. Grade 4 All day
Retreat at Camp Van Es on Friday, October 21st ( more details to follow)
New members to our Classroom: ​Dot & Dash robots: : ​aim to create ‘aha’ moments to
connect computer science to everyday life experiences.Watch this video to learn more
about students becoming innoviative thinkers:​ ​Dot & Dash Robots
Social​:​ We will be continuing to work on our Interview Questionnaire Assignment. Creating a
rough draft and then a polished copy.
Google Classroom/Student Fresh Grade​:​ Hope you had a chance to read their
“check in” for the month of September. They are all finished but many of the students
forgot to ‘Turn In’ their ‘check in’ into Google Classroom. We will complete tomorrow for
those who forgot. Your child will share again at the end of October.
New use of student learner outcomes ( SLO): ​you will start to see our new format for
assessment that we are moving toward this school year. SLO’s will be added to an assessment
piece to better understand how your child performed with that outcome by using the 4 point
levels of Achievement. (I’ll share other subjects next week) ​Language Arts: SLO

Religion:​ we will continue to discuss the effects of Climate change and how it relates to
World Food Day on October 16th and we will continue to discuss being a Good Samaritan,
Lesson 3, while using our devices.
Kinder buddies:​ ​No Kinder buddies because of the Monday holiday
Science​: ​Lights and Shadows: continuing to discuss refraction and Light colour
Math:​ Develop Number sense: show., describe and compare quantities of whole numbers to 10
000, pictorially and symbolically: We will be working on expanded form and standard form and
writing numbers as words. Three ​Mathletic ​lessons that they are working on to complete this
week: Place value to Thousand, Place Value, Expanded form. Continue to support at home
​ A:​ ​we are working on a Teacher read novel: Fourth Grade Rats by Jerry Spinelli We

will be working on chapters 6-8 this week on a google doc in Google Classroom.
Poetry​: Will continue this assignment in Google Classroom: using metaphors and similes next
week
Grammar: ​ We will continue to focus when to use commas in a group similar items together in a
sentence.
