Introduction
In this rapidly changing world it is important that, as well as succeeding
academically in formal examinations, every young person has the opportunity
to develop a range of skills including critical thinking, problem solving, working
with others and proficiency in ICT.
With this in mind, our Senior Phase structure allows pupils to select a Wider
Achievement Bundle, along with their NQ courses. These Bundles allow pupils
to develop these skills which are essential for learning, life and work. All S5 and
S6 pupils participate in one Wider Achievement Bundle. This booklet outlines
the Bundles available to senior students.
We have tailored the Bundles towards either a specific trade, profession,
vocation or an element of work. By doing this each Bundle can help with the
development of specific technical or professional skills for certain types of jobs
or occupation or the development of training in general skills and aptitudes
relating to an industry.
The Wider Achievement Bundles are therefore very important. They have a
clearly defined purpose and are integral to every pupil’s development. They
can also make the difference to employers, university/college admission
officers when selecting entrants to join their organisations.
Please be aware that, due to popularity or limitation on the number of places
available, some courses may be oversubscribed and it may not be possible to
guarantee everyone their first choice. In such cases priority will be given to S6
pupils who can demonstrate a clear interest and/or future career path in this
area. For this reason pupils are asked to make three choices and rank them in
order of preference.
If you would like further information on Wider Achievement Bundles, please
come and see me.
Mr Heeps
Depute Head Teacher (S5-6)
