Festival Kinensai
Rice harvested from the sacred rice
field in the past year is given in offering
to the gods, and prayers are said for
another year of rich har vest. The
offered rice will be used to grow young
plants for the rituals, which will take
place at this year's sacred rice field.

Jinaimachi Hina Tour
See beautiful Hina dolls decorating
various places in Jinaimachi, including earthen-floored rooms, eaves of a
townhouses and shop windows.
These two days are packed with

Koto performance, and a tour of the
precious townscape.

Spring Higane Ritual
"Higan" means going to the world of spiritual
awakening. Every year, a ritual is held on the
vernal equinox day when day and night are
the same length. At Shitennoji Temple, each
hall conducts a ritual to respect the ancestors. Visitors can enjoy browsing street
stalls lining on the road from the station to

Rapeseed Offering Festival
Legend has it that Sister Kakuju, the aunt of Lord
Michizane, made plum shaped yellow dumplings
which proved to cure illness, thus attracting worshippers. It became popular as "Spring ritual in Kawachi".
The Children's Parade starts at 13:00 to offer rape
flowers in memory of those which were blooming
when Lord Michizane stopped by on the way after he
received demotion by imperial edict and was sent
from Kyoto to Dazaifu (Kyushu).

Special skating rink has
opened at

winter! In this
newly opened
rink, couples

smooth compared to the resin rink. There will be

Osaka Asian Film Festival 2016
There are some fine pieces of work with good potential among films made in Asia although they are not
shown very often. A charming aspect of this film
festival is encountering excellent works from Asia
earlier than others. The opening movie is a Taiwanese movie "WANSEI BACK HOME" filmed by HUANG
Ming-cheng and the closing movie is a Japanese film

2016
The Nipponbashi Street Festa is a colourful
festival featuring cosplayers in elaborate
attire, robot performances, live music and
much more. This popular event is a must

Izumi Kogawa-Ichigo Farm
Abundant sweet red strawberries have
ripened! The greenhouse interior remains
very warm even in the depths of winter.
It's operated on a first-come, first-served
basis each day until all the red berries are
gone. No reservations are accepted, so
please go early.
Sweet and savory strawberries can be enjoyed for 30 minutes, as much as you can eat. You can enjoy one or two
kinds of the seven varieties of strawberries, including Asuka
Ruby, Benihoppe and Akihime, grown in the farm. A dessert
cooking class (reservation required) using farm-grown strawberries is offered for those who want to enjoy more.
