2014: A Defying Expectations Year!
Since our launch at Scottish Series in May, the Scottish Maritime
Sailing Trust has been making waves...
Building on the historic ambitions of Alexander Taggart's venture, the Scottish
Maritime Sailing Trust has been reinvigorated this year by a brand new board of
trustees: Susan Pettie (Chair); Claire Fleming; Captain Donald MacPherson, Nick
Christie and Isobel MacLeod (Treasurer) who have brought with them 3 vessels
along with an unstoppable can-do attitude. The Trust is looking forward to an action
packed 2015, starting with our visit to the London Boat Show on the 14th and 15th
of January!
What we've been up to:
Scottish Series: We joined the Scottish Series in May as a committee vessel,
hosting a race committee on Trader Lady to record vessels crossing the finishing
line.
The Clipperton Project: In July we partnered up with The Clipperton Project and
Trader Lady became a floating lab/ workshop space on the Crinan Canal at Lock 3 in
Ardrishaig.

RYA Motor Boating: We've secured a collaboration with the sportscotland National
Centre at Cumbrae who are offering motor boating courses on Trader Lady.
The Team:
Making it all possible we have an amazing crew of ship shape volunteers and staff
powering the Trust to success!
Nick Wilson: Skipper
An experienced motor boat skipper, Nick has done a fantastic job of volunteering to
keep Trader ship shape and to get her on the water more and more over the coming
months.
Amy Shipway: Project Management Navigating everything from boat insurance to bank accounts, Amy has become an
expert in all things marine: even scrubbing the deck...
Stewart Cunningham: All hands on deck
Handy with a spanner, a hose and anything practical, Stewart has cleaned, fixed and
generally given Trader lots of TLC!
Marc Turner: Photography & Inspiration As an experienced sailor, sail coach, sailing development volunteer and sailing
photographer Marc has been instrumental in making this SMST opportunity a reality.
Jim McIllraith, Survey One: Coding
Jim's generosity of time and knowledge has been an invaluable gift over the past few
months as he has steered us through the challenges of coding and surveys. Stephen Bennie, Troon Yacht Haven: Safe Haven
Troon is a safe and secure berth for Trader over the winter and we are grateful to
Stephen for encouraging and supporting the Trust.
Iain & Fiona Kilgore, New World Yacht Care: Chandlery
The Kilgore's long previous history with our motor boat has meant many invaluable
insights and solutions to the care for our special Lady.
