Year 6 Newsletter February 2017 Welcome to our 3rd celebration newsletter. It’s been another jammed packed term full of fun and learning. Here is what Year 6 has to say about this term. Maths In maths, we have learnt about three different measurements for a circle. These are circumference, diameter and radius. The circumference is like the perimeter except for a circle. Diameter is the length from one side of the circle to the other side across the middle of the circle. The radius is his length from the midpoint to the edge of the circle. Learning about it was tricky but fun. By Natasha. English In English we are learning about the Highwayman, it is very fun! On Monday 6th February we watched a puppet animation. We then made our own Highwayman puppet show for the class. We could use our hands and cut out shapes and make noises to represent sounds such as rain and horse hooves. In the Highwayman there are three main characters: Bess, Tim and the Highwayman. In this story, Tim loves Bess but she loves the Highwayman. Tim wants Bess to himself and wants to kill the Highwayman. In conclusion, I love learning about this subject and can’t wait to learn more about it. By Tabbi Cultural Day I have enjoyed the Bollywood day because I got to try new foods and I liked lots of them. I also liked it because when I did the Bollywood dancing, it was a fun experience and I don’t try it very often. Also when the parents joined in it was really fun. By Polly Wasted Workshop linked to PSHE We did lots of cool and exciting things. One of which was an awesome workshop called Wasted. People came in to talk to Year 6 about drugs, answer our questions and show us what effects they have on you. I found it very interesting and it answered a lot of my questions. By Liz This term I have enjoyed learning about how dangerous, addictive and bad drugs can be. It can also cause you to get arrested or even die from illegal drugs. It will mean you have to stay away from family, friends and loved ones. By Anakin Science - Electricity This term has been jam packed but there is one subject that has blown me away and that subject is science because we have learnt so much and I have learnt how to explain why it does or doesn’t work also I have had many fantastic experiments. By Luke P.E. This term has been amazing but my favourite thing was learning the Haka because I love rugby and my favourite team is the All Blacks. By Tommy In tag rugby, we have been learning how to perform. Also we had a proper coach who came to teach us. His name was Mr Saunders. It was fun having Harvey teach us the Haka, which New Zealand uses to intimidate people in rugby. By Leon own wrap and then we will try it and write down what we think about it. By Faith. Young Voices Young voices is incredible! All the songs are epic and I can’t wait to sing them at the O2. My favourite is about to rock. By Alyssa I have enjoyed Young Voices because of everything we got to do. I also liked the songs we got to sing including seeing all the other schools who participated. By Hannah Cooking in Design Technology I have loved doing cooking this term and trying new foods that I’ve never tried before. New foods from other countries are awesome and you should try them! By Charlie We also debated what punishment would suit a crime from an Anglo Saxon perspective compared to modern times. This jury had a tough decision! The Year 6 Term This term I have enjoyed cooking. In cooking, so far, we have made guacamole. With the guacamole we tasted the shop-made one, a fresh one and one with chilli and did the same with salsa. We have also made pebre. Cooking has been extremely fun this term. By Cate I love cooking because we get to try new food that we have never tried before like the black eyed bean salad (which was from Brazil). Also we have to bring in an ingredient to make our
