FACTS ABOUT HOPI SHELTERS
By Joshua and Owen
The Hopi came from the Anasazi tribe, who dug holes in cliffs and
lived in them. Due to climate changes, the Anasazi split apart into
groups. One group was the Hopi.
The Hopi built adobe houses and ariluna houses. Both types of
homes were made out of the same things, such as straw and hardened
mud. The ariluna homes were an apartment-like shelter. They all lived
in large villages.
The Hopi lived in the deserts and mountains of northeastern
Arizona and New Mexico. They lived along the Mogollon Rim too. The
Hopi didn’t move around a lot.
