Directions: Solve word problems where you either need to find the GCF
or LCM. Please be sure to write a statement 
Example: Hot dogs come packed 𝟏𝟎 in a package. Hot dog buns come packed πŸ– in a package. If
we want one hot dog for each bun for a picnic with none left over, what is the least amount of
each we need to buy? How many packages of each item would we have to buy?
We are looking for the least common multiple in this problem. We are looking for an equal
amount of packages of hotdogs and buns for a picnic.
List method (use what works for you! )
8: 8, 16, 24, 32, 40
10: 10, 20, 30, 40
LCM (πŸ–, 𝟏𝟎) = πŸ’πŸŽ.
Four packages of hot dogs = πŸ’πŸŽ hot dogs. Five packages of buns = πŸ’πŸŽ buns.
Statement: Since there are 10 hotdogs in a package, we will have to buy four
packages of hot dogs. Hot dog buns come in 8 buns per package, so we would
have to buy five packages of buns.
