wDAY 4 ~ LIBERTY & ELLIS ISLANDSw
This morning, we embark on a memorable excursion to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.
Just like a local, you’ll ride the subway to Battery
Park where you’ll board the ferry to the Statue
of Liberty and then Ellis Island. Enjoy time at

your respects to the Statue of Liberty, a gift from
France to the United States, which has become
a worldwide symbol of freedom. At Ellis Island
enjoy ample time at leisure for lunch on own
and exploration of the Museum of Immigration
which features a movie, a number of exhibits and
the ability to explore your ancestry. We return
to the hotel via subway this afternoon. Having
toured and gotten acquainted with most of the
areas of Manhattan, you will now feel more
comfortable with your surroundings to enjoy the
remainder of the day at leisure. You may choose
to take a walk or carriage ride in Central Park,
visit a museum or shop on 5th Avenue. Your tour

to New York’s famous sites. This evening enjoy
a farewell dinner at a locals’ favorite followed
by an optional excursion to the Top of the Rock
observation deck atop 30 Rock to see the beauty
of New York City at night. (Dinner)
wDAY 5 ~ 9/11 MUSEUM, FAREWELLw
This morning, on Memorial Day we honor those
who have made the ultimate sacrifice with a
visit to the National September 11 Memorial
& Museum. The Museum displays authentic
artifacts associated with the events of 9/11, while
presenting stories of loss and recovery. On a selfguided tour you’ll come to better understand
what happened on 9/11, how people responded
in the aftermath of the attacks, and the history
and rebuilding of the World Trade Center.
Enjoy time at leisure to pay your respects at the
9/11 Memorial, two reflecting pools, set in the
footprints of the North and South Towers of the
World Trade Center. Both pools have cascading waterfalls which are the largest man-made
waterfalls in North America. Inscribed around
the bronze edges of the pools are the names of
those who died on 9/11. Visit The Survivor Tree,
the 8 foot tall Callery Pear tree that was found
barely alive among the rubble of the fallen towers.
Nursed back to health and replanted in the plaza,
it has since flourished and has grown to 30 feet
in height. The tree embodies the story of survival
and resilience important to the history of the
World Trade Center and 9/11. A short transfer
to the airport for our nonstop return flight later
today. Upon our return to Southern California,
those with included transfers will be returned
to their respective destinations. Memories and
images of your time in New York City indelibly
set in your mind. Note that considerable walking
is required in order to see all of the sights listed in
the itinerary.
