Electricity 2, Magnetism and Electromagnetism Introduction Programme Type / Level (SCIP2052) “Electricity generates magnetism and magnetism generates electricity,” these few words embody the key to electromagnetism. Electromagnetism has a wide application, such as in electric motors, electric generators and cranes. This course will introduce students to magnetism and electromagnetism through experiments and interactive learning activities. Students will then apply the concepts of electromagnetism to the creation of simple devices. Intermediate Course in Electricity (Token-required) (Core Programme) Instructor(s) Mr. Chan Wai On, Department Head of Physics of Munsang College (This programme is co-organized with Munsang College) Target Participants P5 to P6 HKAGE student members Class size: 20 * Priority will be given to student members who are in Mathematics and Sciences domain * Students who completed Introductory Course in Electricity: Electricity 1, Electrostatics and Circuit Design (SCIP1051) will be first considered. Medium of Instruction Cantonese with English Notes Certificate Certificate will be awarded to participants who have: Attended ALL sessions AND Completed all the assignments with satisfactory performance Intended Learning Upon completion of the programme, participants should be able to: Outcomes 1. 2. 3. 4. Application Deadline Investigate the relationship between current and magnetism; Explore how magnetism and electromagnetism are applied in electrical devices; Analyse different methods of electricity generation; Create simple devices using electromagnetism, such as d.c. motors, electromagnets and wind power generators. 9 June, 2014 Application Result Release Date 13 June, 2014 Student members may withdraw from the programme on or before the deadline.
