NORTH HALEDON FREE PUBLIC LIBRARY UPCOMING PROGRAMS & ACTIVITIES April 2016 Registration for the following programs and activities is now underway. Baby Play Time will be held on Friday, April 1st at 10:00 a.m. Borough children ages 12-23 months and a parent/caregiver are invited to join Miss Donna for stories, songs, finger plays and time to play with our toys! Board Game Afternoon will be held on Friday, April 1st at 3:30 p.m. Miss Donna invites Borough school-age children to stop by for a snack and some after-school fun. Jim Wright, birding columnist for The Record will present “All About High Mountain” on Tuesday, April 5th at 1:30 p.m. Wright’s 40-minute PowerPoint presentation will include recent nature shots, aerial photography and archival images of this 1,260 acre patch of forest in North Haledon’s backyard. A Tuesday Talks for Seniors presentation, this event is co-sponsored by The Nature Conservancy and the Friends of the Library. Light refreshments will be served. Claire Houghton-Kiel is available Thursday evenings to share her expertise on “all things tech.” Reserve a time slot (7:30 or 8:15 p.m.) and a date for your one-on-one instruction a.s.a.p. Funding for Tech Talk is provided by the Friends. Sensational Science workshops with Miss Rosemary will be held Friday, April 8th. A morning session for children ages 3-5 will be held at 10:00 a.m.; an afternoon session for children in grades K-4 will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sensational Science is funded by the Friends. The Readers Kaffeeklatsch will meet Tuesday, April 12th at 1:30 p.m. to discuss The Readers of Broken Wheel Recommend by Katarina Bivald. June Westlin will lead the discussion. Toddler Story Time will be held Friday, April 15th at 10:00 a.m. Borough twoyear-olds and a parent/caregiver are invited to join Miss Donna for bunny stories songs, games and a craft. Members of the Crafty Ladies Club are invited to make a spring floral craft with Miss Donna on Tuesday, April 19th at 1:30 p.m. All supplies will be provided. New members are always welcome! Preschool Story Time will be held Friday, April 22nd at 10:00 a.m. Borough children ages 3-5 are invited to join Miss Donna and for bunny stories songs, games and a craft. The Snack ‘n’ Chat Club will meet Friday, April 22nd at 3:30 p.m. Borough students in grades 5-8 are invited to join Miss Donna for a snack and some after-school fun! For Richer or Poorer will be shown on Tuesday, April 26th at 1:30 p.m. This romantic comedy features Tim Allen as Brad Sexton and Kirstie Alley as his wife Caroline. Wealthy New Yorkers with both marital and financial problems, Brad and Caroline discover what really matters in life when they are forced to flee New York and end up in an Amish area of Pennsylvania. The film runs 116 minutes and is rated PG-13. A Movies Worth Watching presentation, this event is sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Seating is limited, so early registration is recommended. Join Miss Susan for a guided tour of Central Park on Wednesday, April 27th. We’ll meet at the library at 9 a.m., board a 14-passenger Ford Transit van and head over to the Park. As we Walk ‘n’ Talk, our way through Central Park, Mario Medici, licensed NYC tour guide, will discuss points of interest. Lunch will be on your own. After lunch, we will continue sightseeing until 3 p.m., at which time we will board the van and head back home. This trip is hosted by the Friends of the Library in conjunction with the Board of Library Trustees. Cost per person for transportation & driver’s tip is $35.00 ($30.00 for member of Friends.)
