The Author: Laurie Halse Anderson
Laurie Halse (pronounced like waltz) Anderson was born on October 23, 1961, in Potsdam, New York (close to
the border of Canada). She and her husband have known each other since they were three years old; they have
four children, all adult-aged now. Anderson has written several novels and series including: Vet Volunteers,
Speak, Twisted, Prom, Chains, Catalyst, and Fever 1793.
