The CRI Council is proud to share examples of resourcefulness

The CRI Council is proud to share examples of resourcefulness, from its sponsors, allies or exceptional public environmental stewards. This area is a rotating
reflection of how awareness, knowledge, research, passion, creativity and determination can, not only save valuable resources from landfill and reduce negative
environmental impacts, but also save money.

Our first example of resourcefulness comes from CSV Architects, who’s clients
benefit from a genuine commitment to sustainability. One of the many examples
of resource reduction at the design source applied at the Oxfam National Headquarters in Ottawa, was simply identifying interior windows to have them converted into an interior partition.
Thus, the client benefited from an overall cost saving, and the following life cycle
impacts were averted, benefiting all of us:
• Existing windows sent to landfill
• Extraction of new natural resources for new steel or glass
• Important negative impacts related to fabrication process
• Transportation from extraction to fabrication, and then to site point
