Through the use of illustrations, this book tells the story of Ann who is diagnosed with dementia.
It shows her doctor and supporter trying to provide the right care for her in the early days of her
dementia, until Ann becomes so confused that she is moved into residential care. It is useful to
help someone with an intellectual disability understand what dementia is, and how the person
with dementia can be supported. After the pictures this book also includes a story for each
picture, as well as information about dementia and its diagnosis and treatment.

growing up, close relationships and sex, safer sex, deciding to become a parent, being

In this play Sam, Mikey and Sash deal with issues in health care. Sam must face the death of
his father through bowel cancer and Sash has discovered a lump in her breast and must decide
whether to do nothing or visit a doctor. Mickey is their sounding board as he tries to lead them
in the right direction. The video was made to help people with intellectual disabilities become
more cancer aware, learn how to communicate their health issues to doctors and learn how to
cope with bereavement and loss. A booklet comes with the video providing questions for
discussion in group sessions.

and advice about looking after herself, and then begins to adopt a healthier lifestyle. The story
is told in pictures alone to allow for individual interpretation. A suggested text is included at the
end of the book. There is also information on the symptoms of heart disease, what causes it
and how it is treated.

This is a new online information service that aims to increase access to eye care information for
people with intellectual disabilities. Eye health charity Seeability has a dedicated area called 'My
eye care' on this site. It has been created by people with intellectual disabilities and includes
easy read factsheets and videos covering eyecare information. In addition to what happens
during a sight test, the site has links to key aspects of eye health care including advise about
wearing glasses, eye operations and a section outlining the most common eye conditions.
