Wireless Connectivity to Leader Boards
at major South African Golf Challenge
Centurion, South Africa, December 7,
2009. Q-KON, the Africa distributor of
Wavion's new category of Wi-Fi Base
Stations and Stella Vista Technologies,
announced a successful deployment
of a wireless connectivity solution for
remote access and update of leader
scoreboards for a major international
golf event.
Stella Vista Technologies appointed
Q-KON on recommendation of Broadlink
(Pty) Ltd to provide wireless connectivity
using unlicensed spectrum equipment for
fast and reliable deployment.
The connectivity solution was provided
making use of Wavion's 5.8GHz WBS5800 Omni-directional base stations and
Ubiquity client devices covering the over
7000m long golf course in line-of-sight
and near to no-line-of-sight conditions in a
natural and serene environment,
challenged by heavy tropical rain and
earth shattering lightning.
This was a very unique opportunity to
showcase the Wavion WBS-5800's selfbackhaul capability in this challenging
environment to ensure reliable and stable
connectivity to each of the deployed
leader scoreboards during this major
event on the golf calendar.
